Texas's First Season in the SEC

And they're the lone conference survivor in the College Football Playoff.
I have to admit, I did not see this coming. Really thought they'd be mid-tier in the SEC their first season. Not as bad as OU's first year, but didn't expect this either.

They benefitted from not getting to play a "real" SEC west gauntlet IMO.
They also 100% should have been knocked out by ASU, but somehow that wasn't targeting

They were preparing for their move to the SEC several years before 2024. They wanted to make an immediate impact and not try to figure it out when you get there, like OU is doing. This goes for all UT sports too. The higher ups and boosters at UT get shitted on a lot, but they did a good job at having UT athletics prepared for the SEC.

That makes Texas's run pretty enjoyable

They likely are, but Aggie wasn't the only SEC fanbase talking about how Texas and OU were in for a wakeup call, would be mid-SEC teams, etc.
One of those is now the only SEC team left standing.

The only time they’ve played anyone worth a rat’s arse, they got beat twice and struggled mightily. They won’t last much longer in the CFP

It was simply very good timing. If Texas had joined in the 2010’s it wouldn’t have been pretty (regardless of schedule).
Instead, we joined when we have our best coaching staff and collection of talent in 15 years.

They’ve won two playoff games. Muh schedule talk just seems lame at this point.

Glad you got that off your chest.

Still would rather them not be in the conference. Conferences were better with 12 teams.

I mean, their roster is loaded. It was pretty obvious they were going to be very good. And yes, their schedule helped.

Home teams won the first four games. Teams that didn't have a month off won the second games. I think OSU and Texas should have been the 3&4 seed instead of ASU and Boise. I think the games are about to actually start getting much better the next few weeks.
Penn State sent 11 to stop Jeanty and Boise just didn't have enough ammo to overcome.
Ohio St got out quick on Oregon and rolled before the Ducks realized they were playing football.
Texas jumped out on ASU quick and were fotrunate to survive once ASU woke up.
Notre Dame won the game from the :39 mark in the 2nd quarter to the 14:45 mark in the 3rd quarter. Those :54 were the difference. Neither offense looked spectacular, but outside of that stretch where the game went from 3-3 to 20-3 it looked to be back and forth with a possible lean to Georgia.
The byes should go to the top 4 teams. Conference champs not in the top 4 should get a home game for round one. Oregon, Georgia, Ohio St, and Texas with the byes vs the winners of UT v Notre Dame, Penn St v Arizona St, SMU v Boise St, Indiana v Clemson would have been much better TV in round one and most likely the quarterfinals as well with the top 4 coming off a months rest.

I agree with that. The new schedules suck.

Their schedule was super soft. Their divisional games were extremely favorable, outside o UGA they had good draws from the East, and their OOC schedule was a joke (not entirely their fault for Mich dropping off but still).
You could not have asked for an easier year for them to jump over and have success.
Then they draw Clemson and ASU so far in the playoffs

They better win a championship this year, as the stars so far have aligned for them.

They have a top 4 most talented roster along with OSU, Bama, and UGA. Doesn't seem like much of a surprise.

unfortunately i am rooting for Texas to win so all the big 10 twinks will shut up

So you think now it’s down to final 4 the games are going to get good?

Just messing. I agree w your assessment. But TX did have a very favorable SEC schedule. I think TX and ASU are comparable. If they play that game 7 times. One team wins 4-3.

Sadly you’ll have to endure that for a year when OSU and Penn State are in the finals.
