Texas will be the 7th or so best overall athletic program in the SEC.

How bad must the Big XII be if they are willing to give up being the lords of that conference, to be a middle of the pack team here in the SEC?

LSU
Alabama
Florida
Georgia
Auburn
Tennessee

All have superior total departments compared to the Whorns.

Plus they give up their stupid network and their unequal revenue distributions.

Texas getting SEC exposure and SEC money could be a problem if they ever got their shite together

Why do you have LSU listed above Alabama?

Money isnt the problem for texas

Meddling boosters and an athletics administration that seems a bit askew is

When I think of Texas' current problems, money and exposure come to mind immediately.

texas really havent been the lords of the big 12 for some time now. They may have the biggest budget but theyve not had the clear cut best team in any of the major sports for a while.

Texas already has unlimited money and a ton of exposure and failed to dominate the Big 12. They will never get out of their own way and getting consistently beaten by better run SEC teams will make the issue worse.

I actually think Texas joining the SEC is pretty dangerous for everyone else. I think Texas will become that national power again. One of the most storied athletic programs in the country. The SEC will help them get back to where they were before.

You're kidding yourself if you don't think that Texas will have success in the SEC.

Football wise, its getting to the point that the SEC teams will just cannibalize itself. It'll be extremely impressive if you have an undefeated SEC team following league play. It's really moot now with the expansion of the CFB Playoff.

Texas baseball and basketball will be just fine as well.

Define “success”.

If you think they’re going to be on about Texas A&M’s level, sure they will have “success”.

If you think they’re going to come in and win titles in the major sports you’re delusional.

Texas (and OU) have never really had tough road trips in elite environments that compare to the SEC. They play each other neutral. Maybe 1 OOC in certain years and that's it. One year your toughest road trip is Kansas State and the next you're going to LSU, Auburn and the Swamp. Should be a fun time for the traveling fans.

As an athletic program overall, they'll be fine. Football specifically? There appears to be a lot of dysfunction to overcome.

Sure, they'll have great years here and there, but only 3 conference titles since the collapse of the SWC and 1 national championship in 50+ years suggests it's more difficult to sustain success there than perhaps it should be.

Mack Brown had the best run since DKR, but he was still bested by OU head-to-head and in league titles.

All of this. I think Texas' recent visit to Fayetteville was the largest stadium true road game they have had in a while. Soon that will be on the smaller side for an SEC road game. To be fair, Hog fans despise Texass so the energy was electric.

You hit the nail on the head. Too many chefs or chiefs and a gruesomely leftist admin.

Why do people post shite like this? If you want to talk about "overall athletic program," Texas has literally won the Director's Cup the last last two years for best athletic program in the country.

They already have money and only 1 or 2 main competitors in conference.
