Following Duncanville-Allen on X. Duncanville leading 14-0 after the 1st quarter. First time all season Allen has trailed by double digits

I found some dude streaming from the stands on YouTube but he’s adding his own commentary which is a little annoying. I decided to watch Karr vs St. Aug instead
YouTube link to Allen vs Dville

My gosh the way that DeSoto and Southlake Carroll just ended. If the QB just went for it he wouldve been in and then DeSoto with the 99 TD run to just stamp the win like wowww.

I look forward to watching the state finals games each year

They almost always deliver.

Some cool rematches from last year.. which is so impressive for teams to get back through the season and playoff gauntlet for rematches

Part of the reason why Southlake Carroll hasnt won a title since 2011 is because they really don't have talented players

They were in my district when I played and while they always kicked my team's arse it wasn't because they had a ton of talented players. My school who went 3-7 and lost to Carroll by 50 sent more guys to D1 than Carroll did. What makes them good is they start learning their playbook in pee wee and stick together all the way up until high school to where they execute their offense like a well oiled machine. It was so frustrating playing them as they always had perfect timing and guys in the right spot all the time.

The problem is you have schools like DeSoto, Duncanville, etc. who are loaded with raw talent but just needed the right coaching to keep them all in line. Now those schools can execute almost as well as Southlake but have the raw talent edge which puts them over

You nailed it. You had dynasties like SLC and Westlake. Sure, they had some big name players, but they weren’t loaded with 5-stars in the trenches and burners in the backfield.

Once Cedar Hill, Duncanville, and DeSoto finally got it together, those other schools found their match.

In the lower classes, you see similar results with South Oak Cliff. The talent was always there.

The talent hasn’t always been there.

Duncanville, Desoto and SOC.. all open enrollment.

Arlington Bowie is another example. One of my school's 3 wins my senior year. They were absolutely loaded with raw talent, their QB got a scholarship from Texas, but they were located in a rough part of Arlington and therefore most of their players came from broken households.

The next year they hired Kenny Perry as their coach and all of a sudden they became really really good. The talent was there, they just needed a coach who could wrangle the talent and keep the players focused and distract them from their at home distractions so to speak.

South Oak Cliff, Duncanville, DeSoto, North Shore all fit this mold.

South Oak Cliff up until yesterday was the only school that was able to beat Aledo. Aledo = school just like Carroll, recruits like crazy but not a lot of talent and they start at a young age. Luckily theyve been able to avoid SOC since 2021.
