I know ESPN wants them in but do they really deserve it?
Is big 12 that good?
That losing conference record will be enough to get in

It's hilarious to me that they're even in this position. What a shite show of a program despite the amount of talent Rick Barnes has at his disposal each year.

By far the most disappointing team this year.

If they beat K State and win a game in the Big 12 tourney I think they're in. I can't believe I thought this could be a Final 4 team, which is what I thought after they played Kentucky tough in Rupp. I feel bad for Myles Turner.

It really is a testiment to his (lack of) coaching at this point. He had enough talent that he could've competed for a Big 12 title.

They are 2-11 vs ranked opponents

Funny thing is that they'll lose Holmes and probably Turner, return a team full of upperclassmen and bring in two solid guards, and still underachieve. QUIT HATIN ON SCOTT DREW.

8 Big 12 teams should get in, but I think 7 are going to leaving out KSU

The team from a couple of years ago was far worse.

I think Lunardi had them on first four out as of last night.

if they lose to KSU and in the big12 tourney, they're not getting in at 18-14 and 7-11 in the league

KSU should not get in. C'mon man. Texas needs to beat KSU and they are probably in if they beat TCU or Tech in the tournament. The Big 12 is stacked. Texas only has 1 loss outside the top 50, but Barnes has done his typical failure of a coaching job during conference play. They should win their next two games and get in. As of now, they're out.

Yep, just saw it on ESPN.

I feel like a Power 5 (6, whatever, CBB is different) team should at least go .500 in conference play to be in contention for a tourney bid. That would put these teams

Pitt
Miami
NC State
Okie State
K State
Texas
Indiana
St. Johns
Xavier
Stanford

in trouble. They have a chance to bring their record up to .500 or better in their conference tournament. This doesn't take wins against RPI top 50 teams and so forth into consideration, I just consider it a personal benchmark.

ETA: ESPN Bubble Watch. Will make a thread if there is enough interest.

KSU has a very weird case. They have a shitty record but they have five wins against top 25 teams, not many teams can say that. They might get in with two more wins.

I don't feel bad for Myles turner at all. He knew what he was getting himself into. He chose texas over Kansas. I have no problem with that decision, but why would I feel bad for him?

Whomever wins the game between Kansas State and Texas will get in IMO. I think Kansas State is more deserving with some of their wins but god do they have some bad losses too.

He probably thought he'd play more than 23 minutes a game if he was clearly the most effective player on the team, but such is life with Rick Barnes.

And K State has an RPI of 77. They aren't getting in castorinho

Has anyone else noticed Barnes hasn't been the same since the Bradysteamroller rolled through Texas in 2006? Prior to that season he was giving UT great results. It's like he quit after choking with that loaded 2006 team he had
