It's recruiting. Do you really think there's honor in recruiting when Ole Miss keeps pulling in top 5 classes?

That's why I hope he gets absolutely blasted for this.

We are not talking about the coaches

you're talking about something completely different

and i feel this street goes 2-ways. schools who don't make a final decision until close to NSD and pull schollies are bad

it takes a really crazy scenario (like LSU with brad wing) to start being able to defend a school for doing so

We also don't know Strong's true intentions. Is having a big time recruit delay his announcement until NSD really that bad? You're just letting ESPN help you recruit in the future.

And if you're LSU, doesn't Fowler having a NSD announcement while being committed to LSU a red flag?

a few days prior, he reaffirmed his commitment to the LSU staff

I don't feel bad for LSU at all. Kids flip schools all the time on NSD. The kid lives close to UT. UT had been recruiting him hard. And he had a NSD announcement while being committed to LSU.

Perriloux did the same. "A few days prior" isn't signing day and leaves room for one to change his mind.

then he shouldn't have re-affirmed his commitment a few days prior

that shows a superior low level of IQ and emotional thinking at best and a completely manipulative, selfish attitude at worst

yeah i think the majority of these "show me attention" kids who pull this shite don't work out, and with that mindset, it's not shocking

you guys are missing the point, Erick Fowler verbally committed to LSU last June, since he was clearly debating which school to attend he should have verbally DECOMMITTED from LSU (really a while ago) but at the very least last week he could have told the coaches he was thinking about it and not "I Solid to LSU), instead he quietly changed his twitter profile and scheduled a signing ceremony 20 minutes from the UT campus. It was obvious he was flippin, but common courtesy should dictate maybe a call to LSU to say, I'm staying home. Now, if Strong told him not to change his status that's a huge bitch move. He could have dropped his committment and it would not have affected UT at all. I don't think anyone else was really pushing him except UT and LSU and LSU was still recruiting him just as hard as they would have if he was uncommitted.

i feel you.

This is precisely the case. LSU signed arguably the best class in the country but the last 36 hours left a bad taste in the mouths of many fans.

Meanwhile, the class Texas signed pales in comparison to LSU yet it felt like they had a magical day.

It was all about momentum, and while I don't like it, I understand that it was a great tactic for Strong.

love how y'all have some fantasy about recruiting being honorable. It isn't. Not from the recruit side and not from the coaches side. Everyone plays game. Even LSU. Shocking, right?

Even if all of this true, why does it make it OK? Just because everyone is a dick doesn't mean we should just condone it.

I never said it was ok. Just the way it is. Schools get played all the time.

Strong can recruit as well as he wants but if he can't develop players then Texas football will remain at .500

Strong will be fine. I think they finish 7-5 at worst this year. 10-2 is a possibility if they get some luck.

Their biggest problems is improving the offense. No doubt they'll have the players on defense
