Even the Pels allowed the Bobcats to become the Hornets again. Adams is petty as hell
I mean it went even further than that. All Hornets history before the Hornets moved to New Orleans was assigned back to the Charlotte franchise. So the New Orleans team is considered an expansion franchise founded in 2002. The Charlotte Bobcats, an expansion franchise in 2004 are considered founded in 1988.
Meanwhile the Utah Jazz.

They trying to copy the Oilers and the Rice Owls in one fell swoop?

To be fair since moving to Utah they've had HOFers and made finals before NOLA got a team again, and they still at least use the name to this day. The Lakers aren't giving Minnesota that name back either.
The Titans decided to do a rebrand, but still hold the Oilers rights hostage even though a new team in Houston came along after they moved. That's petty shite. When NOLA wanted to rebrand they released the rights. Had they continued to stay the Hornets after the ownership change I don't think anyone would really have any problems with it, but NOLA felt like they needed a rebrand altogether and gave the rights back.
When Bennett left Seattle to go to OKC he already agreed to let Seattle have the rights to the Sonics again if they got another team. I just don't see why Adams is so hellbent on keeping the Oilers hostage when they don't even use it. If they had remained the Tennessee Oilers like when they first moved that's a different story.

I wish the Titans would just do this; rebrand back to the old team name. Those Oiler jerseys are all-time classics.
Why they would hold onto those, forbid them being used by anyone else, NEVER wear them except every once in a blue moon is a complete mystery. I never liked the Titans rebrand.

Well, Bud Adams is dead. Now his daughter, who now owns the team, might also be hellbent on hanging on to the Oilers logos. And that does appear to be the case.

They'd be better off bringing back a Warren Moon, an Elvin Bethea, a Curley Culp, a Robert Brazile, an Ernest Givens, a Drew Hill, a Bruce Matthews, and an Earl Campbell.
Number 00

Stupid arse Saints traded him after one season for a bag of peanuts.

If the Saints were not around to serve as my local team, I wouldn’t have been born into rooting for them, and I probably would have rooted for the Oilers. As a kid, I just could never gin up the same feeling for them I had for the Astros. Now, I love seeing those Luv Ya Blue highlights and references.
But I wish the current Houston team was named the Oilers and had powder blue as their primary color. That would be a much better fit than the bland, characterless, nondescript Houston Texans. frick the Bud Adams family. Hated him and I’m sure the rest of them don’t fall far from the tree.

I think she's actually worse than Bud.

Being originally from Houston I still love the Oilers. Bud Adams is a piece of shite and if I had the opportunity I would piss on his grave.
Changing the Texans colors will not save this franchise from still being one of the worst in all of sports.

I don't understand why the Titans still want to hang onto the name after all these years. Unless Adams put it in his will. If not, sell the name back to Houston where it belongs. Profit. And everyone wins.

Gonna be a hard pass for the NFL to have all those EV commercials during their broadcast while they have a team with an oil derrick as their mascot.
