They’ve always been one of those “oh yeah I forgot about them” teams.
They play in a nice 50k stadium, yet I’ve never met one ECU fan or seen one piece of merchandise
How are they viewed in that area? Just curious with the dozens of big programs within 200 miles it would be hard to recruit there.

All I know is they have the coolest midfield logo in all of college football!

I’m familiar with them from being from NC.
I’d compare the student body to Coastal Carolina

The ECU-Southern Miss rivalry is probably the rivalry I miss the most from the old CUSA/pre-CUSA days.

Football school in an area of NC that is not heavily populated and more Southern than the Triangle or Charlotte. Their fans are more like SEC fans than any other school in NC imo. College football and college baseball are the popular sports at ECU.

Sandra Bullock and Vince McMahon went to school there. A lot of military fans because of the proximity to Camp Lejeune and Fort Bragg.

They have also won like 4 strait against NC State and 3 strait vs UNC at home...so there’s that too!

I live in the middle of North Carolina off I-40. On Saturday mornings we have App State fans going west and ECU fans going east. They are the real football fans in NC. Both are decent sized schools but are thought of as small schools nationally.
