Most superstars are insecure. It's that insecurity that causes them to obsess about being the best. They want to leave no doubt about how great they are. It's that insecurity that causes them to rise to the occasion rather than floating along with the tide.

MJ used to take the most trivial slight against him and use it as fire for his performance.

when I scrolled to the bottom and saw the comments, I was baffled by this one...

ugh. Shaq is the worst. Why is he on this show?

Every single post game show he does this and it’s annoying as hell. I hope he gets permanently kicked off for Lisa Leslie.

GTFO with that bullshite!!!

You can tell that Casey dude was scared as frick it took Kenny to jump in an interject and try to steer it to a different direction. Ernie is so valuable to this show as a quarterback and traffic director

Charles disrespected him a little bit. I have to watch again when I have time, but Charles was going on about how the coach should treat the top player on the team. Shaq disagreed with him and went on about how he and Riley were at odds. If you listen, right after that I think Charles tells him, yeah but you weren't the top player on the team. You know how Shaq is when it comes to Kobe, that is all it takes.

He was talking about wade and the heat. And Shaq admitted he was a role player on that team

Tough to claim that when Shaq readily admitted he was a role player on the Wade Miami team.

Yeah but Shaq didn’t really seem too bothered until Chuck mentioned Kobe carrying Shaq. I’m a Kobe guy but that’s just not true. Shaq was the best player in the world during the lakers three-peat.

I know he admitted to being a "role player" on the Heat but the dude was the 2nd leading scorer, #1 rebounder, and played the 3rd most minutes for their championship team.

Being the #2 is hardly what I would consider a "role player" especially in the modern NBA

Shaq was not the best player on the team when Riley was his coach. Wade clearly was

But shaq was also far from a role player

And the part where Barkley is right is that if you take Kobe/Wade away from Shaq and give Barkley similar level players, Barkley would have rings too.

Gonna have to disagree here. Shaq was a much better player than Chuck. You're basically saying that Prime Chuck was as good as Prime Shaq, which is silly

When Chuck argues that Kobe carried Shaq, it's quite relevant that Shaq has 3 finals MVPs. That's not what being carried looks like.

Inside the NBA is the best show on TV. Gonna hate when it ends this season.

I really like Shaq, but I hate how every single time he disagrees with Chuck he reverts to the rings argument. I almost wish Barkley would've won one bc idk if Shaq could actually form a counter argument

The initial part of their argument (benching the best player versus keeping him on court) isn't cut and dry either. In principle, no player gets preferential treatment and everyone listens to the coach. In basketball however, you gotta keep the players happy or at least content. If you don't, you loose your job ultimately.

See David Blatt and Lebron or Marc Gasol (lol) and David Fizzdale

i don't disagree. just stating what he said.

he was still an all star and a dominant force in the league. definitely not a role player.

just his way of admitting to being the #2 on that team behind wade.

I think that was sarcastic.

Usually second best player isn't a "role player". Plus Shaq is way to cocky to admit something like that. Hearing him talk about his Celtics/Cavs/Suns days will tell you that.

That was before the whole Miami role player thing.

Shaq's whole argument is based on the Miami days so Kobe doesn't even come into the equation of what Chuck is talking about
