In a 1-7 everyone still plays everyone home and away every 4 years.

That is still complete garbage in comparison to playing bama, UF, Auburn and (to a much lesser extent) Ole Miss every year

No kidding

If pods are out I'd rather just have the same eight opponents every year if they include Alabama Florida Auburn OM MSU Arkansas A&M Texas

Wouldn't get to play most opposite division schools but that's better than losing the annual traditional games

For a year, a question has lingered in the SEC’s scheduling debate: Will ESPN give more money? Unlikely - right now.

Without $$ incentive, more than half the league supports 8 games in 2024 as part of a 1-year, temporary model that is under consideration

Need 10 games for a proper rotation. 16 teams doesn't rotate easily otherwise. Unless people adopt the pods or something 8 games isn't enough

Is it?

I think it is funny that we add teams but all of a sudden feel it is more important to play each team faster.
Where does that logic fit in?
I want to play a western divisional opponent faster.
I got it... let's add 6 more teams to the conference!

3+6 does the trick. But I'd rather stay at 8 until every single SEC team starts playing 2 P5 OOC annually.

Are you implying that fans are the ones adding teams to the conference? I didn't ask to add more teams. However, I would like to have the opportunity to go to Athens once every 4 years for an LSU game.

Kind of they have been in the league for over a decade now right? It's not that UGA is ducking A&M but I'm sure A&M fans want to go to a UGA home game sometime

I'm not arguing the rest of your point, but can't the conference figure out a way to where teams play each other more than once every 6 years? It seems pretty absurd. Some of it is the "forced" east/west crossovers. I know those are some great rivalries but that makes it way harder to fit any other teams in.

LSU traveled to Athens in 2013, and it’s going to be over a decade since we’ve been back

The East and West are the same conference but teams go a decade + in between trips to campuses. It’s ridiculous

There are some that have wanted this for a very long time. As a LSU fan since the 1980s we never got to play Herschel Walker or Bo Jackson or Peyton Manning and that sucks. The SEC has been around for 90 years. LSU and UGA are both charter members but we’ve only played 33 times and 4 of those are the SEC Championship game so we’ve only been scheduled to play UGA 29 times in 90 years, that’s just stupid

Bama/Auburn/UF/UGA/LSU/Vols should play each other annually.

Creates more problems than it solves. Uneven home & away distribution. Uneven schedule strengths. No divisions making a conference championship game less straightforward (more corrupt). Doesn't save as many of the annual traditional rivalry games.

I'd rather either 10 games to correct all of those problems or 8 team divisions (and screw rotating to keep the tradition more intact).

Round-robin...everyone played everyone... No b.s. unbalanced schedules and Conference champ games.
damn, broke by Bama.

Your teams can fix that like Auburn and Alabama did. I'm just cynical about incentives and abuse of scheduling.

What needs to be established is a equitable system that fairly balances the needs of the conference and the individual programs.

In the long run that's the interest of the league. What killed the Big 12 was exactly this type of failure
