LSU is gonna go from arguably the best/toughest yearly SEC schedule to mid at best and it fricking sucks.
LSU plays Bama, Auburn, UF, Ole Miss every year. In the new SEC every one of those (except maybe Ole Miss) goes away.
In the new SEC (assuming there will be divisions), the east will be the OG SEC and the West will be the Big 12/SWC plus LSU and Mississippi.
And if we go to pods or whatever it will be LSU will still be paired with non-SEC original members.

They’ve already said divisions are going away
In a 1-7 everyone still plays everyone home and away every 4 years.

Bama and Vols could play each other as an OOC game.
Bama and Ole Miss did that a couple times in the 80s.

I don't see in any alternate universe how BAMA and Auburn won't be each other's permanent opponent with 8 games. Tennessee will go away.
As far as Auburn and Georgia, in that circumstance will also go away.

Alabama/Auburn and UGA/Fla will be the permanent opponent for the 8 game schedule in '24/'25, but Bama will still play Tennessee and Auburn/UGA both years. When the 9 game schedule starts in '26, after Saban retires, they will become part of the permanent 3.
Those series will not be interrupted

He’s saying they will do 8 games for 2 years and front load the schedules to keep those games, the revisit after 2025.
Short term that’s definitely the way out of this

The dude is living in Walt Disney land.

I actually think that’s a likely outcome, that would essentially punt this issue of those rivalries for 2 years and see where Disney is re: more money for the 9th game till then as well.

So in that scenario, the 7 non permanents would not rotate for those two years?

Yeah you’d play the same slate of 7 home and away
You’d still have the issue of OOC uncertainty which would be the one thing that would stop this from happening. Basically everyone would have to have a non co defense game they’re able and willing to cancel with less than a years notice. Would lock in at least 10 p5 games for everyone at least initially, which is fine by me but I can see the smaller schools not being excited about that.

The 9th game is the only leverage that the SEC has. If this contract can make up any distance with the B1G it will take a 9th game to change the dynamics.
The SEC messing around with these 3 permanent opponents might be the greatest gift we could give ourselves.
Another reason Coach Saban needs to be appreciated by all the little people in the SEC for the forward-thinking humanoid that he is.

Same here. Gonna be pissed if our 24 schedule gets screwed up. It will be our best since 2011.

I can’t imagine the Vegas game getting nixed. Probably be the UCLA game and once again the season ticket holders get shafted.

The SEC needs to respect the storied history of the LSU-Vanderbilt series. Not having a yearly game would be a downright travesty.

That is still complete garbage in comparison to playing bama, UF, Auburn and (to a much lesser extent) Ole Miss every year.
