Coaching changes + NIL + Transfer Portal. It's a 100% hard reset on your program. It will be immensely more challenging moving forward to sustain a winning tradition at the G5 level.

The combo of NIL, that really isn’t NIL the way it was sold, and the no-sit transfer portal has completely fricked the non P4s. Then add in the non P4s have to pay a ridiculous portion of the lawsuit settlement.

Well, all the sudden there is some legit discussion about Louisiana Tech to the new PAC12.

I suppose that could give Texas State a “travel partner”.

There is a large contingent of older fans who are adamantly against the PAC. I’m personally for it. We’ve been successful, but ridiculously stagnant.

While I prefer to be in an eastern based league, the PAC is a much better basketball league and maybe we would actually see a benefit there.

If the rumor mill is to be believed, the Bulldogs and Cajuns are working very closely together. That won’t make either fanbase happy but the two admins want to share a conference.

Well even if it’s not a good fit at the end of the day for us to move, or even if the PAC immediately laughed in our faces, the rumor being true would at least mean that for once ever Martin Hall actually got off its arse and tried to do SOMETHING halfway proactive for athletics.

OMG…stop the madness.
Even if there was some validity to rumors, the travel expenses would be wildly expensive….just like when Tech was in the Wacky WAC.

I dont see it. Moving for the sake of Moving sake. Its not Moving to THE PAC12. That's just a name. It lacks any of its former prestige. Oregon State and Wazzou will be looking to get out at any opportunity and then you're stuck as an outsider in a WAC/MWC hybrid.

Games with no regional interest or rivalries. Road trips our fans won't go on, host games opposing fans won't come to. Even with the foolishness of the west coast teams in the B1G, theres at least some brand draw to the matchups. People care about USC coming to play Ohio State. Nobody will ever give a shite about Colorado State coming to Lafayette or the Ragin Cajuns going to Fresno.

For my part, I have no interest in being a Louisiana team in a west coast conference thats going to Garner no interest, excitement, rivalry or passion.

Supposedly Texas State is getting only half a revenue share from PAC 12 through 2031. That with travel expenses for a conference not considered a P4 would be very tough for LA Tech or UL athletic departments to bite off.

You’d have to have a very high level of confidence that your ticket sales/attendance numbers would skyrocket (football attendance from 15-20k to suddenly 30-45k every game) and donors lined up with the promises of “I’ll now donate X amount of you can get us into the PAC 12”.

I honestly can’t see either of those being the case, at least for our athletic program.

It would be a terrible move. The TV revenue boost is a negligible amount that will end up being offset by the increase in travel expenses.

And outside of football and basketball, a big increase in travel cost is a lot tougher to absorb the costs on. So you're either going to end up with a bunch of non-revenue programs getting cut unless you can work out a deal to join another conference like the Southland for everything except football.

Neither Tech nor Cajuns can compete, w/budget & definitely can’t afford buyouts or entry with PAC….especially Tech. This is just ridiculous & a waste of time. Honestly in this current NIL climate, I’d much rather Tech redevelop regional rivalries. If Tech isn't invited to SBC, I understand, but PAC isn’t happening EVER.

I am guessing that Louisiana Tech was the SBC’s emergency backup should UL-L move to the PAC12 or AAC.

I see this breaking a couple of ways - Tech joining SBC then splitting SBC into a true East / West with a couple of other additions.

Tech doing something crazy on their own.

Like it matters what g5 conference Tech is in or Indy…anyone pretending like their g5 is more prestigious is just laughable these days.

Don’t worry, Marshall and ODU are going to blow up the Sun Belt in no time. Marshall has never been content in a conference for the entirety of their athletic history.

It looks like them, App and JMU are already trying that lol

The PAC 12 makes 0 sense for Texas state they should have given all the HJs in Texas to try to get into the AAC

Absolutely correct, you had to know this would happen after what they did to CUSA. Best thing to happen to CUSA was getting rid of them and UAB.
