Last year was Texas vs Washington and the city was packed for the Semi Final game. Year before was not a playoff game K State brought more people than Bama. Obviously the game wasn’t packed since it was not a playoff game.

I'm kicking myself for how much I paid for my ticket looking at what I can get for the same price now.

No reason that this shouldn't be on campus though. Even if the first round games sucked, the atmospheres were electric for kickoff. Semis and final at a neutral site makes sense.

UGA should have been in Peach Bowl and Texas in Sugar. Would have been better for fans of those teams. Texas could be playing in ATL 3 times. Of course in that scenario, UGA could have as well, but it’s basically a home game for them.

Bama/K St had over 60k. Not bad for a non playoff game.

Three consecutive neutral site games is an abomination

This. Only reason they are doing this is to try to preserve the old ways and bowl games.

It's the bowl games trying to sell the History and "The boost to the local economy" angles. The history angle has been nonsense when the traditional tie-ins went away. If attendance continues to drop, that angle will look less and less like a valid excuse to keep the bowl games except for a couple.

I figured these games would still do well being tied to NYE/NYD. Now, I can totally understand no one going to the semis.

Most fans are not committing to three neutral site games in three weeks.

I was telling my dad about the new playoff system (he doesn't follow sports) and he even said that it would be almost impossible for 'average' fans to make 2/3 games.

NCAA should go to 8 teams. Also the NCAA should just automatically put Alabama in the playoffs to make sure the LSU fans are happy.

as a georgia alum/fan, none of my friends or family even ever discussed or had any interest in going to this game. it was kinda weird, but pretty easy to explain.

Would you have felt differently if Beck was healthy? Or was it solely because of the trip?

If they want to preserve the bowls, then make it where the first 2 rounds are on campus and the semifinals and title game rotate among the 6 bowls. Getting 2 semifinals and a national title game every 6 year rotation is the best way to keep them relevant and well attended.

Traveling to 3 consecutive neutral site games will get old quick for even the most die hard fans. Especially for teams that are in the playoff consistently. Plus most of those teams will have had a neutral site conference title game right before the playoff

Worst one I for me personally was Florida vs Cincinnati in 2010. Tebow waxed that Cincy team.

This isn’t new

Georgia was in the 2002 or 2003 Sugar Bowl and tickets were left on the desk because no one wanted to cross the street to watch the game.

Certainly not new.

The game is sold out. Mass quantities of empty seats means the allotment of each team (which they already consider sold) are not sold out. However, I have yet to find any news articles, tweet, or video saying the teams did not sell all their tickets. Usually when that happens its covered in the news.

At worst there are 5000 no shows scattered around the dome, and not half empty sections.

Fans don't have the time and money to travel twice in two weeks.

I think fans are waiting to see if their teams win these early rounds and then blow their money when it matters.
