Not proud of it and definitely biased, but you'd be hard pressed to find a rivalry with as much vitriol as the Egg Bowl.

ATL/NO rivalry was more heated than anything I have experienced in NYC or CHI.

this is just anecdotal obviously, but the bengals/steelers rivalry is pretty intense. the only problem with it obviously being that the steelers are one of the most successful franchises in the nfl and the bengals are....not

It also doesn't take into account the actual intensity of the fans.

Too often rivalries are judged on national interest or viewership. Some of the most intense rivalries don’t draw a lot of attention outside of the fan bases, but there’s decades of hatred between the teams.

All this study does is state which can bases only look at one other fan base as someone they dislike. As an LSU fan I hate everyone, but I megaloathe Florida.

I am an Arizona grad and love my Cats, but even I laugh that someone thinks ASU and Zona is the most heated rivalry. In football both schools are so irrelevant that nobody even watches the game unless they are living in Arizona or went to either of the schools. In basketball, UCLA is Arizona's rival and we could care less about ASU. Whoever did this study is clueless and has obviously never been to an SEC football Saturday.

In-state rivalries are the most heated and fun, cause you have to live and work with the other side.

LSU and tOSU miss out on that. On the other hand, it helps them immensely in recruiting.

The only thing that would make this story even more hilarious is if fans of both schools gave zero points to the other.

Or, conversely, if fans gave both schools 100 points. Biggest. Rivalry. Ever.

Isn’t that the point?
They asked ASU and Arizona fans
They asked them who their biggest rival was and they gave eachother the most points
You ask Bama they have more than just Auburn and don’t give more points to Auburn than the Arizona schools

I live in NYC now
I went to SC.
Now SC Clemson is extremely heated from what I’ve seen I think Red Sox Yankees is right up there
Also with football in NY
For the giants i could understand because you could ask the fanbase and their’s would be a mix of responses (Cowboys, Eagles, Redskins and to some the Jets)

Who is Florida’s biggest rival? FSU or UGA?

Most older fans will say UG, most younger fans will say FSU.

I have to admit. I would have listed about 40-50 sports rivalries before I got to Arizona/ASU.
