This is just the numbers, nothing more.

Both QBs were the #1 overall draft pick. Both were 22 years old when they came into the league. In fact, Manning was only 18 days older than Newton when they made their respective first starts. So it's an interesting comparison from a control standpoint.

I thought this would be interesting for anybody who is an actual fan of the game or likes statistics.

I started looking at this to satisfy my own curiosity and was surprised at how close the stats were. I thought others would too.

This would be appreciated on most other sports forums. I should've realized on a forum that's 75% Saints and LSU fans that have an irrational hatred of Cam Newton it would be trolled and derailed immediately

They were also completely different rules in their first 5 seasons. Go watch old Peyton games, his receivers from 01 to 05 just got abused.

Good God you're an idiot. You're comparing a QB who has been good for 2-3 seasons to one who is a first ballot HOF

All I took from that is that Cam has a much better defense than Manning had.

You're accusing others of trolling?

The Auburn board would love it. Bring it there.

ETA: All you did was throw out a bunch of stats. What do those stats say to you?

Manning showed improvement each year, though.

Cam was the same guy for four years (12-15th best QB) then has one great season. Is the one great season an anomaly? I'll wait and see.

I see that most Panthers threads here are annoying trolls. But this thread is literally just pure objective stats.

But you're right. Instead of posting a real thread with new information to garner genuine discussion, because that would be "the worst", I could contribute to another quality thread to this board on a subject like team emojis or what hat is Lebron wearing.

You didn't facilitate any discussion. All you did was throw a bunch of stats on the wall and say "here you go."

ETA: Also, your brethren trolled the shite out of the board yesterday, so you're getting some backlash for their tomfoolery.

ETA2: Honestly, what discussion were you looking to have, other than "look how awesome Cam Newton is"?

Yup. But luckily Cam's career is just beginning. Manning had a 13 year head start so there's still time to make up ground, and looking at the stats Cam is setting himself up for success at a slightly faster rate.

I guess you proved that Cam is greatest ever.

Unless that wasn't your Auburn intention?

How do you think that affects the stats?

Comparing passing stats from 1999 to 2015

That said Cam is the heir to the throne

Well I wasn't a part of that tomfoolery

Given how surprisingly close Cam's stats are to this point, I was interested to see if people thought he would continue on a similar career path.
Although I see now I'm not likely to get an honest answer
