Yes he did and it was found:
Deadspin

I just love the idea that this would have ended up any other way. Now I fully expect the Cardinals to be very concerned and to launch a full investigation (if they haven't already) to find the culprit.

I'm a cardinals fan, but I swear, I hate sports fans in general.

but is just guessing potential (likely) passwords technically "hacking"?

In computer language it is technically unauthorized access. In legal terms ¯\_(?)_/¯

why would they hack a team they no longer really compete against?

To see if Luhnow had taken their proprietary info with him to the Astros. Obviously, better ways to go about that.

This sucks as it gives something for you all to chirp about.

Without any information though it seems more as a low level feud between an employee and lunhow though. Apart from wanting lunhow to still be our development guy and stealing his ideas there is no rationale for this.

Wish it hadn't happened, but the benefit is so minimal have to believe it was low level

Was just about to post this.

Anytime you don't have access to something but get it anyway, is unauthorized access. Doesn't matter if it's through password sharing, brute-force hacking, etc.

I made a comment earlier. I'm a Cardinals fan. I'm not sure what you're going for here.

Had no clue you were a Cards' fan. Your posts are way too logical and sensible compared to most of your MSB brethren. That's why you were so easily overlooked.

I guess taking a wait and see policy and not say anything stupid is the best policy

Well, someone had to. So they went with a tenured owner with a successful franchise. That he headed up the committee seems to be pretty benign. Especially given that Manfred was basically being groomed for the job for several years prior to appointment.

I wonder if the international bonus pool for this year will be affected or if that's too close for it to happen and they'll just frick the draft next year.

or both.

The benefit(s) are yet to be determined. Could have been the reason for the information leaked last year.

What we do know is that if these allegations are true, this offense is far more severe than deflategate and bountygate, and probably worse than spygate. Sucks for the fans, because there has to be some pretty substantive punishment coming down if anything comes of this.

From ESPN:

The FBI and Justice Department officials have evidence that Cardinals officials -- who were not identified -- allegedly tapped into the Astros' database

that could get ugly.
