How do they not call TO here, Spurs had no idea what the plan was against that formation/lineup.

Then this one shows a little bit earlier, where Wemby actually has Kat to start with

Not sure I agree with the video. The Spurs intentionally didn't guard the inbounder and their defense forced a 30 foot jumpshot. Aside from a turnover, I'd take that 100 times out of 100.

Guard the unbounded when the clock is your friend (maybe under 2 secs). Almost 6 seconds too much time and you’re out of the play if one man overcommits or f’s up. Spurs should have never been in that position. Never lose a 30 (29) point lead. Ever.
Wemby missed 2 crucial FTs right before that and Fox went Simple Jack NOT running clock and/or pulling it out and forcing them to foul which would have resulted in points.
I told my wife during the game that Fox was point shaving or something bc his mistakes were criminal

Knicks beating San Antonio worse than the Mexicans did at the Alamo

Mitch looked frazzled almost every time they showed him down the stretch, but I think almost every coach in the NBA would be fine forcing a 31 footer with Wemby in his face there. They just got a perfect bounce, the Spurs were ball watching a bit, and OG made an incredibly play.

I mean, unless it’s absolutely complete, utter chaos defensively where you can tell they’re definitely going to score, you can’t burn your final TO there, just in case they do score and you have to advance the ball.

In college, maybe it’s a good idea to try to call TO so you can play for the perfect defensive matchup/strategy, but not the NBA.

Good point.. just looks like they were caught totally off guard, Wemby walks out initially takes KAT, then throws his hands up like WTF at the bench when Castle takes KAT and Wemby has no idea who to guard, he then pushes Harper off Bridges, so 3 guys switched who they were guarding right before the ball was thrown in.. I am just curious if any of it was how they called it.. was Fox supposed to even double team and leave OG open for a 3 ? (Fox for sure needs to run to the lane after the shot goes up, Wemby had the blockout on Brunson).. if KAT dives hard to the goal, OG is wide open after throwing it in since Fox double JB, OG was 7/9 from 3, surely the plan was not to leave him wide open ( I know Castle was able to kind of hedge OG since Kat moved slow)

Their guards except for Harper look visibly shaken when the game starts to get away from them

What about using the foul to give when the Knicks were in a compromising position in scramble mode…with 5 seconds left the timeout let them
Calmly setup. Dumb

Well on the backend, Castle absolutely scores the game winning wide open layup if KAT hadn’t tipped that inbound pass. Hart got destroyed on the screen and Castle was all alone

The rebound was their biggest issue. Why was Wemby 30 feet from the goal? Why I say this… if the shot goes in it’s an MSG miracle and nothing anybody could do. Idk about taking a Wemby contested 3 down 1 right there.

But it was quick enough they gave themselves a chance for the tip in and they did. Some teams play for one bite of the apple on the final shot, the Knicks got two

A. There’s no guarantee Mitch doesn’t erase him at the rim if it’s a clean catch

B. They got a gift in that the clock didn’t start on KATs tip like it should. If he scores the officials were going to take a look at it and maybe wave it off

They gave up a 25 pt lead. Not sure one play is the issue.

This seems a bit critical. Ball bounced just right for the tip in with like a second left? They still forced their best player to take a difficult shot with two guys on him?

However, I understand wanting Wemby down low as well.
