I thought it was perfectly acceptable to not have your hand over your heart.
I don’t do that. I’m not in 3rd grade anymore.
I typically lock hands behind my back.
To me, hand over your heart is like a civilian salute which is why I do it. I'm not in the military anymore.
That being said ... do what you want. I don't care and no longer about this shite. It's so tired now.

Spurs led by one of the most Leftist coaches in history, Popp, was brainwashed into Communism.

lol! Swing and a miss, much like Aaron Judge when it matters the most
Since you decided to shoehorn a diss at Aaron Judge, even though this thread has NOTHING to do with him, let me help you out. The Captain led our USA BASEBALL team. He nearly led us a to a championship, but it was not meant to be. Aaron Judge is as American as it gets.
If Wempy does not like the US, he can always go to France, or China, or Iran, or North Korea.....you get the point.
KNICKS Gonna SWEEP, then the Yanks will do MAJOR damage in the MLB playoffs. Get Judge heathy, then YIKES

Just watch hockey instead. Seriously. You'll see freaking Canadians in the stands singing both anthems. There's really no other major sporting event where the fans are so loud during anthems like NHL.

Standing at ease is not the preferred stance for the anthem. But you do you with your worldly experience.
Tell that to the thousands, upon thousands of veterans who, do not “stand at ease” during the flag raising or lowering, or taps, or even the SSB. If you’re not wearing a cover, hand over your heart and stand at attention.
The next time you’re in a large gathering, look around. The older people stand upright and hand over their heart. Mostly young (under 50) don’t pay attention to this tradition. They even continue to talk during the anthem. Plenty of idiots do this in Tiger Stadium, high school games, etc. just look.
If you’re American….you stand at attention and place your hand over your heart, or if with cover, salute.

This is just patently false

I played a college sport. We did the anthem on the field. We didn’t put our hand or hat over our hearts. Hands behind our backs at attention. This isn’t the pledge. Anyone mad about it is a fricking moron.

Nothing wrong with that. Did any have their arms crossed?
Posted on 6/4/26 at 8:24 pm to holdmuh keystonelite
Why does that matter? The point is that the hand over the heart is just people doing it because they saw other people doing it and over time it became more prevalent. It was never a standard or requirement. You stand up. You remove your hat. You don’t talk. People are only upset because they want to be triggered even if it’s over a fake narrative. Congrats. You’re just as easily manipulated as the other side.

Crossed arms is the new kneeling apparently

This is fairly common in the NBA. Stand with arms behind their backs but be respectful. Wemby isn’t American anyways. He’s from skinny-arse-bitch-istan

I don’t put my hand over my heart during the national anthem. I never have, and I love America.
I feel like the obsession with putting your hand over your heart is a new phenomenon. During the pledge? Sure. That’s a pledge. You’re not pledging to anything during the anthem. It’s a song.
My father was a veteran and he always stood at attention when the anthem was played. I’ve always stood with my arms behind my back.

They stood. That is enough for me.

36 U.S.C., Chapter 10, Section 171.:
quote:
Conduct during playing During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. Men not in uniform should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart.
There is a proper protocol for the National Anthem. I personally don’t care what you do, but there is a proper protocol.
