Football and basketball for me

Baseball will always be my favorite

Have become huge soccer fan over last 5-10 years. The games being on Saturday and Sunday mornings is great to watch, and really love the no stoppage in play aka no commercials aspect

I still follow college football but not as much. I just don't live to spend all day Saturday watching college football. I will watch LSU when they are on and I like to follow the SEC and big ten, but I just don't care about the Alabama/Tennessee game or UF/UGA. I don't give a shite if Ole Miss is playing Kentucky anymore.

I actually wish there were fewer night games. I liked it when the big ten played in the afternoon and LSU played at night. That was perfect.

I never have been able to get into soccer. Now that I'm retired I've been able to watch some of the WC. I guess the main reason is that I really don't understand the strategy.

I’m still far from an expert but in general, the best way to learn is just watching.

Think about someone from Europe getting into college fb for the first time. They could watch 3 games one day involving big 12 offensive shootout with teams running the hurry up, an SEC or big 10 matchup where (most) games are decided in the trenches, and then something like Navy running the triple option or some shite

Soccer is same way. Different teams play different formations and styles of play, usually depending on their talent level. You also see different styles among all the different leagues such as England, Spain, Germany, Italy. For me personally I follow English Premier League much closer than anything else just because it’s the easiest to follow in America. NBC Sports does a fantastic job with their premier league production

I understand the game isn’t for everybody and realize how much hate it gets in the states, but if you ever do decide you wanna take the plunge, I highly recommend going over to the Soccer board and jumping in the match day threads and ask a bunch of questions. Nobody will think any question is stupid and people who know a lot more about the game than me would be happy to help you out

If you're really interested about the strategies, Tifo Football has a lot of good videos.

Used to be a big LSU baseball fan (1986-2001). Made many weekday games at the Old Box. After Skip retired, I just did not feel interested in listening to every game on the radio any more.

This 2018 baseball season, I watched maybe nine innings total. I haven’t been to the New Alex Box ever. It’s not fun like it used to be for some reason. I am still a single man with no kids. I have opportunities to watch games at the Box...I am just not excited with this program.

pretty much everything but college football

MLB only because the Cards currently suck, I still like it okay but especially excruciating when your team sucks or is just blah

MLB won’t admit they have a problem.

Saw a SI article about how it’s dying and they said this year is the highest time between balls in play at almost 4 minutes

4 freaking minutes between balls in play. What a joke.

The problem is that the players are the ones who've done this to baseball, and the little at-bat routines have become this perpetual cycle. That's why a pitch clock is desperately needed.

There's absolutely no reason for these guys to watch a ball/strike go by, step back, put the bat down or under their arm, re-adjust and re-velcro their gloves, look at the bat, take a few mini practice swings, step back in the batters box, take a second or two, and then get back in their stances.

Get in the batters box, take a pitch, and then get back in your stance and ready for the next pitch. Someone needs to make a rule that if you so much as touch the straps on your batting gloves, you're automatically out.

College football has been my favorite sport/league since the late 90s, and last season was the first time ever that I wasn’t glued to my tv every Saturday, all day long.

I’m not sure if it’s because I have a toddler now and I’m just too busy, or my interest is slowly waning as it has in other sports/leagues.

This is part of it for me.

I have 2 kids, one of whom is a year old. I can barely carve out time to watch the Arkansas game, let alone any other CFB games on Saturdays. I still keep up with it and watch as much as I can, but I'm not glued to the TV all Saturday in the fall like I used to be.

That's one of the reasons I don't watch the NFL much at all anymore. I'm not crazy about what has happened to the league under Goodell's stewardship, but I also just don't have the time to watch even if I wanted to. If I'm carving out time to watch football, it's going to be college.

I used to be obsessed with Major League Baseball when I was a kid. The strike of '94 didn't run me off like most because I didn't understand what it was or what it was about, and because I was a Yankees fan and they were pulling themselves out of the ditch and catching fire. Mattingly and Paul O'Neill were my guys in the early to mid-90s, and I probably watched every pitch of the '96 World Series (still bummed that Mattingly retired after '95 and never got a ring). Somewhere along the way around college I just lost interest in baseball altogether. I'm not sure if it was related to the ever-increasing sluggishness of the pace of play or baseball becoming more of a regional sport.

Football I guess. I used to be a huge everything sports fan but my interest has died some with age. Most all sports minus the occasional game my rooting interests are involved in or soccer is just background filler now.

Although I like discussing them now more than ever so idk

This is me. Mrs.RedPop4 begrudged me sports on TV early on, and would mention something then her mother would repeat it ad nauseaum for years.

In college I was a huge sports fan, especially MLB and NCAA MBB. Always have been a soccer fan, from the 70s, even.

Had season tickets to the Zephyrs and the Brass in the early days of Zephyr Field, then worked as an usher right after, but wanted to be with my kids. In 2004, my older son started playing rec. ball, and that was the end of spectator sports, save for a bit of football on Saturdays and Sundays in the fall.

Soccer is easier, it's early on the weekends.
But by the time my kids stopped playing, they were in high school, we were involved in high school activities. I know maybe two dozen major leaguers, three if I try. I know a few NHL players who are still playing from the way back when....

I don't necessarily feel all that deprived. I usually forget, by Tuesday, almost anything that happened in ANY game over the weekend, save for something truly outstanding.

baseball was my first love growing up, the strike didnt deter me (as i was like 13 at the time and didnt really care about the politics of it), the mcgwire/sosa home run chase reinvigorated my love for the game after i had really started to enjoy college football and basketball more in the mid 90s. Sometime around 2000 my interest in baseball started decreasing, but i did pick it up again a few years later when i got into sports betting, as baseball is awesome for a degenerate gambler. Once my sports betting slowed down sometime around 06 or 07 i completely stopped following baseball and havent picked it up since.

Same, and I’ll add the NFL too, but I never really cared about it in the first place. Also college basketball, that used to be my life when I was a kid through mid 20’s. Now I don’t really give a shite about keeping up with teams outside of A&M, and I’m losing interest in A&M too (thanks billy Kennedy).

Basically it’s...
1a. NCAA football
1b. Soccer (English & German)

....huge gap....

2. College basketball

3. NBA

4. MLB
5. NFL

I’m very selfish about 1a & 1b. I’ll weasel out of obligations to make sure I don’t miss something I want to watch, but 2-5 is basically just a way to pass the time.

I used to love MLB, NCAA basketball, the NFL and the NBA. Now I'm down to basically watching UGA football and the occaisional big NCAA football game. Life happens I guess.

I would say NBA, but I don’t even have average interest in it anymore. I have no interest in a half court game watching teams jack up 40 3 pointers. So I’ll go with the NFL. When greed and off the field bullshite overshadows the product on the field then I will tune out.
