They didnt pay 6.1bn to acquire 49% only to follow it up with 7bn plus

They paid for 49% of the team that put the total value at 6.1 based on what they paid and the 7 plus would be for everything

So they aren't valued at 13.1 based on their recent sale. More like 7.3 if they 2nd part of the deal closes

Ok.

I guess the Celtics are not worth as much as the Lakers.

How are the Warriors worth more than the Lakers, Yankees, and Dodgers?

The team owns the land their new arena was built on and these numbers typically include real estate values in those cases

Warriors own the arena?

Thoughts?

In the NFL/NBA/NHL/MLS the most valuable franchises are worth roughly 2 or 3 times what the least valuable franchises are worth.

The Yankees and Dodgers, and to a lesser extent the Red Sox and Cubs, blow that out of the water. That's salary cap/lockout fuel for the owners imho. Logic would tell you if the MLB was structured the same the valuations of the bottom half of the league would rise, as it has done in the others.

What will the warriors be once Steph retires? He is 38. I don't remember there being any national following of them before Steph.

Hard for to believe the warriors are worth more than the Lakers.. seems suspect just based off that

Particularly with Curry approaching retirement.

That was a bottom tier franchise before he showed up.

I don't know what's more unbelieveable - the fact that the Warriors are worth more than all but one NFL team, or the fact that the Marlins are worth less than the MLS team in the same fricking city

It's hard for me to believe the Grizzles are worth more than the Phillies.

These things are not very accurate to real world valuations so take it with a grain of salt.

Case in point, the Raiders valuation here is $7.9bn however just today Davis is selling a 7% stake with a valuation just under $10bn. Not even close by billions.

quote:

Four sources with knowledge of the situation said that owners will also vote on Davis selling roughly 7% of the team to Durban and another limited partner, Michael Meldman. That sale would put the team's valuation at nearly $10 billion
