Yes, because real men get struck by lightning.

I find it hard to believe that Roger Cador was the only one who saw the lightning and the evil umpires and SLU coach wanted to put their kids out there to get stuck.

Remember, the umps have to be on the field too.

I don't see how forfeiting when you have the lead is a bitch move. It's not like SU was getting blown out. Obviously the coach thought it was dangerous enough that he was willing to take a loss while having a lead in the 8th inning.

I live in Central and was watching the game on TV. It was lightening so much that it looked like "daytime" outside at the time when the game was delayed.

Let's be honest here....Southeastern didn't want to lose to a team like Southern University. The score was 2-1 Southern and SLU felt like they had a chance to win with 2 runners on base. I'm sure if the score was 2-1 SLU with the lead and Cador decided not to send out his players, SLU would've been fine with that decision and demanded that Southern be tabbed with a lost.

I was actually at the game. The SLU team refused to get off the bus before the game even started, they said it was storming and they didn't want to play. Then, when the lightning started, while Southern was up, Southeastern's coach said they were ready to play again. The ump wouldn't call the game, even though we all sat there for over an hour watching the lightning, so Cador decided to forfeit. I know the players were pissed off, because Southern just brought in a new pitcher who might have shut Southeastern down, but I do believe they're going to appeal it.

Was watching it on Cox and have to agree with Cador, there was still plenty of lightning. Heck last years state 5A tourney kept getting delayed by the person in charge due to lightning being detected 10 miles away on his meter despite none being seen in the area.

It was bullshite, but the ump seemed to be bending over for Southeastern's coach.

The rules clearly state that if lightning can be seen then play must be suspended for 30 mins. If during that 30 mins more lightning strikes, then the 30 mins starts over.

Coach Cador spolke about it on Jimmy Ott's show this morning and he said that the umps didn't suspend play after the first two bolts of lightning. Once they finally did suspend play they wanted the teams to go back out after only 10 mins. He also mentioned that the SLU coach didn't want to end the game even though the lightning kept going and that's when he said he wasn't going to put any of his players in danger.

He said he spoke to the supervisor over the umpires and was told that the ump should have suspended play and was definitely in the wrong.

So was it a bitch move? It sure as hell was but only on the part of the SLU coach and umpire. Cador should be applauded for what he did because no ones safety is less important than a meaningless weekday game.

They had it all on film, including talking to the umps and coaches, so they'll win the appeal.

I think a lot of people are forgetting the Notre Dame videographer dying after being blown off a platform. Why put students in harms way when you don't have to. Cador was being cautious. I bet the parents of the dead kid from Notre Dame would love for Kelly to be called a bitch for not having their kid on that platform. Just saying.

A forfeit in baseball is (Innings Scheduled)- 0. So if it were supposed to be a 7 inning game then it would have been 7-0.
