Actually, you’re being a fricking retard, like usual, and my entire presence in this thread has been centered around the 9-24 games being competitive and this format giving more teams a shot to stay alive for something meaningful. I don’t care that they don’t have a shot to win it all. The mere attention for these programs is huge for recruiting.
Half of the quarterfinals last year were laughable arse kickings like Indiana giving bama their worst post season loss ever. Oregon making Tech look like a JUCO.
The year before, every team that had a bye lost in the quarterfinals.
You watched a fluke rules based happening with Tulane and JMU playing top 5 level teams and saw no ability of anyone like USC or Texas to pull and upset against those teams because they lost 3 games in the regular season.

Just glorified bowl games

I assure you the guys that ruin their brains and bodies for your enjoyment would rather win a playoff game and get a shot to play a top 8 team in the playoffs than go to Orlando for a week in December.

No. You watched two teams that belonged anywhere but the CFP. In a sport that had operated on a Top 25 ranking system for decades, it is asinine to allow 24 of them into a round robin tournament.

College football serves no purpose now. We already have the N.F.L.
Games don’t matter anymore. Georgia is playing Alabama? Who cares, both are making the playoff. I didn’t watch a second of the game or any highlights. In the past that game would have decided who still has a chance to win the national championship.

So you think by adding more crappy teams that it's going to get better? They get to win a crappy playoff game only to get drummed.
I get it, your team might finally have a shot at a 24th playoff spot. For the rest of college football is lessens the quality of the playoffs and the regular season.

If there’s one certainty in modern college football, it’s that the unintended consequences that the “moar!” crowd like you dismiss as overreactions have a remarkable habit of becoming reality.
It didn’t take a genius to see that allowing players to make a little money signing jerseys and autographs would eventually become a multimillion-dollar NIL arms race.
That unlimited transfers would undermine player development and turn roster building into an annual exercise in free agency.
That handing a coach a guaranteed $100 million contract might eliminate some of the incentive to actually earn it.
That adding more and more meaningless bowl games would eventually make nearly all of them feel meaningless.
That expanding the playoff to 12 teams wouldn’t eliminate controversy. It would simply move the outrage from the fifth team left out to the 13th, while diminishing the significance of conference championships.
That an expanded playoff would make scheduling tough nonconference opponents more of a liability than a competitive advantage.
That chasing television markets through conference realignment would destroy historic rivalries, regional identities, and traditions that helped make college football special in the first place.
None of these outcomes required extraordinary foresight. They were predictable consequences of decisions made in pursuit of more money, more access, and more television inventory.

If AP voters haven’t shown you how worthless their ranking system is by now, they never will. shite is a comical joke. The CFP ranking always resets the AP poll because they actually watch all the games instead of just following regional guidelines and being homers.

Take a look at that subdivision over the last 17 or so years, and then tell me that anyone outside of the teams I mentioned has a prayer to win a championship.

You think it was more advantageous to schedule tough OOC games before? When there were 2-4 teams getting in? If you won the big ten or SEC, you were in. There was no need to ever play anything. Powerhouses do it for branding, recruiting, and money.
Now, these leagues are huge and nearly all the big brands play in just 2 leagues. This is why it doesn’t make much sense to go OOC, not fear of being left out of the playoffs.

You actually believe every person on the committee watches every game?

Iowa was 2 plays from being on the 12 bracket last year.
This year, they’re sitting at 5-1 with a very real shot of winning out and being in it.

That’s simply not possible. They do actually go over the games with one another and someone is watching them and giving feedback. It is comprised of ADs and former head coaches and players with 1 former journalist.
The AP poll is a bunch of dork journalism majors writing for regional newspapers

Just have to beat out mighty Northwestern and you'll be there.

Northwestern could beat half the SEC this year out of the Wing T. They’re probably going to be a ranked team and should be right now. They’re a dumb penalty away from beating Indiana
