Ancer is 31
He has maybe 3-4 more competitive years left before he tails off like most solid but average tour pros

That’s the gamble. And if they can’t make it through Q school or Korn Ferry, not much of a loss to the tour.

The PGA whining about Saudi money is laughable.
Its like John Kerry flying around in his G6 to give speeches on global warming
Love how the PGA is finding money to keep players around. Its no diff than your employer denying you more pay until you get a better offer from a competitor. Clown show.
Old rich boomers trying to keep things the old way.

Cool! Now do a list of all the top 100 PGA players that fit that same demographic?

There have been some outlandish things said on both sides. Phil’s was the craziest and most ludicrous of all. 20 billion in digital assets
Agreed. I don’t know anything about NFTs, but is this what he is referring to? If so, it would almost be impossible to put a value on it, but there is SOME value.

Is there any sport that hasn’t been ruined in the last 5 years?

Ancer is a bigger loss than a lot of the others that have defected.
He is in his prime. He just turned 31, playing the best golf of his career, has a big victory in the past year by winning a WGC event last August, and has been ranked inside the top 25 for most of the last two seasons.
He was also a member of the international team in the most recent President’s Cup in 2019, and is now ineligible for this year’s team.

Not just NFT's

Mingo, my neutral friend that only is here to call out lies
How do you feel about Phil’s 20 billion digital assets comment?

Literally sitting in a CLE right now about crypto and NFTs. There is definitely some value for NFTs. Phil’s claim is obviously insane. But there is some value.

It's not just NFT's. The players don't own their media right so if Tiger self produced a documentary, he would have to pay the Tour for the rights to his shots.
But if he didn't play well enough one year (ignoring his lifetime exemption for example purposes) he wouldn't be on the Tour the next year.

But, to reiterate my point, you can’t freely let the LIV players back. It’s a slap to guys like Rory and Rahm and JT who turned down 100s of millions and stayed loyal
Are they also going to turn down the extra prize money that is resulting from the LIV defections?

Interesting. Clearly not 20BB. But certainly worth something.

If you gave players their media rights, would it not greatly diminish the value of the contracts in the medias eyes, thus ultimately leading to a huge reduction in pay? I would think there is a reason why every organization doesn’t give the rights to the players

I havent completely fleshed it out, but why would it from a sponsors perspective.

Because they're worth money and they sell them for money

From what I gather the stars would be better off owning their own media rights, but 90% of tour players would come out with less if the rights were owned Individually
