You think that the Dodgers invested more in "scouting" Japanese ballplayers?

I mean...first time following baseball?

What a ridiculous and I guess hilarious take.

If it’s so great, why isn’t every team doing it

I care nothing for the Blue Jays. But this is ruining the sport for everyone else.

Stop getting mad at the Dodgers and start getting mad at the other owners who won’t spend.

I will argue that the Dodgers were lucky to win Game 6 and 7.

I still think that the Blue Jays are as good as the Dodgers.

Dominic from Brooklyn says so.

The union chief didn’t come out and say it but he sure hinted that he was advocating a floor of requiring teams to spend X amount of money on talent, in other words compelling teams to compete instead of hoarding cash.

It’s pathetic to claim dynasties when you are just buying championships, but hey, it’s for a major market so the league doesn’t care. Same with what the NBA and NFL have done for LA and NY markets for years.

It’s sad because it makes people care less. While it’s not officially cheating, it still feels like it.

Can all teams take advantage of this loophole? IF so, then it seems fair to me.

I get that you’re upset. It’s funny. You’re ill informed. Read this on MLB.com. The article is titled: Dodgers Japanese superstars are the result of decades of work.

It’s more than just money. Some of you are so reactionary you make yourselves look stupid. Thanks for the laughs.

Let me try this again:

Ohtani, Yamamoto, and Sasaki aren't hidden jewels the Dodgers somehow found. EVERY team in baseball knows and has known about them for 10 plus years.

Try reading that article. No one said they have to be hidden. You’re struggling here.

Shouldn’t be able to defer salary like that but they aren’t doing anything not allowed.

That rule will probably be tweaked at some point.

You and other Dodger fans are not going to care about all the deferred deals because it helps your team.

I get that.

I'm simply saying it is bad for the overall health of the sport.

The CBT was set up, and agreed upon so that the major markets would have some guardrails to prevent prolific spending because of the tax tiers, repeater tax penalties, etc...

If you are deferring over a billion dollars of salary over several seasons to avoid all those competitive balance taxes that were agreed to by all parties...isn't that completely counter intuitive to the actual CBT that mlb and the union agreed to?

Come on. I know Dodger fans don't care about it but do you really not see my point?

I agree. I’m not a fan of the deferred salaries, but it’s legal. Every other team could be doing that same thing. They choose not to for whatever reason.
