MLS Cup 2013 Down 44% In Viewership; Sets Record As Least-Viewed MLS Cup Ever
Once again...this was because it was at the EXACT same time as the SEC Championship Game with two small-market teams.

I can't believe there's an argument in this thread about it being easier to find one sport being broadcast over another. We live in an information and technology age where you can seek out and view any event that is being broadcast around the world, whether it be on the internet, TV, etc.
Yet there's an argument about the, I guess, accessibility of viewing the wnba to MLS. Get a grip.
Are we scanning channels for something to watch in the late '90s?

Why not follow soccer? Gives you more sports to watch and it's like a chess match.

The World Cup, even without the U.S., unquestionably shits on the NBA Finals - the NBA is god awful. It's once every 4 years. Inherently, because of the product's limited exposure, there will be some level of novelty surrounding it. I say this as a person who couldn't care less about the World Cup. Sure, I'll watch a few games if somebody has it on and I'll watch the U.S. play, but there is no way in hell I'm sitting through 2 hours of some other mind-numbingly boring soccer match.
It's actually funny how similar the two sports are, IMO, yet completely different in pace. Both are quite simplistic. Both are back and forth, rarely stopped action that is a bore to watch. Co-kings of flopping, wasting time and arbitrariness.
I would rather watch the NFL playoffs, the college football regular season or the MLB regular season 10 times out of 10 if I had to choose between either of those three and the World Cup. To your point, though, the Super Bowl is pretty "meh" to me now. Extra week leading up to it, so much hype, then there are so many commercial breaks, etc. shite gets old, oversaturated. At least I didn't have to hear about this game today from anybody if I didn't want to - I didn't have it rammed down my throat.
Pretty much the only thing I directly agree with OP on is the pompous nature of *some* American soccer fans. Me: "I just don't find soccer all that entertaining, I don't know how you keep up with it." Them: "You do realize it's the world's most popular sport, right?"
No shite. That's not because it's the most entertaining - it's the most popular because it's the cheapest to play.

Don't get mad at me that WNBA is on more the MLS is.
The fact you are using MLS to base your argument is awful
The EPL is on tv in the states more than the MLS

How many casual soccer fans do you think care about a league that isn't represented by an American team?
a lot actually
since these English teams have bigger fan bases in the states than MLS ones do.

Nah he posted the awful TV Ratings the EPL gets too, 440K viewers? That is so bad.
Saturday night ratings for example, MLB game on Fox from 8-10pm got 1.91 million viewers.
How about The Blacklist on NBC at 10, rerun, 2.93 million viewers.
Lets go even deeper, LIFETIME, last night night, some show called Witches Of East End, 1.1 million viewers.
He also said that NBC is going to lose money this year on that EPL TV deal. And it shits on the MLS here? My god how bad the MLS must be, and soccer as a whole.
I mean I watched probably 40 of the 64 World Cup games, mostly second half on all of them, and had money on quite a few of them, but I enjoyed it like I enjoy hockey or any other, drama, action, etc. but now that the WC is over, I'm done with Soccer for 4 years. That was enough for me. And even that had it's downfalls, PK's to end a game? I wouldn't even watch the NHL at all if the playoffs ended in a shootout instead of golden goal, that is the worst way to determine a winner in all of sports and should not be how it's done in the World Cup. And holy shite I never realized how big of diving pussies all those soccer players are, over and over and over almost makes it unwatchable on it's own.

Well sorry you are missing out on an amazing sport.
You have nerve calling anyone a diving pussy when you support Sidney Crosby

While you're throwing out some name calling, can I call you a retard for betting on a sport you never watch?

NBC doesn't care. They just want to see ratings so they can get a return on their $250 million investment.
They can't sell premium ad space to 440K viewers no matter what time it is on.
