Well of course, currently, the only league of note going on right now is MLS and that will change next year with the new ESPN TV contract.
Overall, though, it is much easier to find a nationally broadcasted soccer match in America than a WNBA game.

440K viewers for an average game isn't shite in TV ratings. I am pretty sure Big Bang Theory reruns on TBS get that.
Hell, Community just got cancelled for only averaging 1.2 million viewers per week.

MLS also just signed it's largest TV deal. It doesn't help that ESPN/NBCSN currently doesn't have a consistent time slot for it, although it will win the new deal kicks in.

NOLA FC or nothing... put the stadium by Poland Av. and where the Mississippi and Industrial Canal meet in the Bywater. it's big enough.

An average weekly game is.
Their showcase games on ESPN average more ratings than 440K though.

That's not really apples to apples when the first wave of games is on at 6:30 in the morning.

So are Olympic ratings but that doesn't mean people are going to tune into a track meet during the regular season. Sort of hard to compare a World Wide once every 4 year event to something that happens every year like the NCAA tourney and doesn't have World Wide implications.

The MLS is adding four expansion teams in the next few years, so I guess someone sees money somewhere. Point being, not sure the tv ratings are telling the full story.

Soccer fans are 2nd in pretentiousness only to new parents (and even then you guys are pushing it)

The Olympics is a bunch of different sports that bring in more viewers based on what sport is showing on a specific day. The World Cup is just one sport.

The way I interpreted it, is that he was agreeing with the OP. I was under the impression he was a fan.
No offense to you, but 99% of my interactions with avid soccer fans (both online and in person) have reflect what he and the OP stated.

Just because 6 million people might tune into the 100M dash for the Olympics doesn't mean that the same amount of people are going to tune into just any 100M dash during the regular track season. Not sure what about that you didn't catch.
The same is true for using World Cup ratings for Soccer.
The better indicator is my link earlier for your Premier League on NBC only averaging 440K per game.
Not sure why you even used the World Cup in comparison to March Madness.
Of course a once every 4 year worldwide event is going to bring in more viewers than March Madness.
That being said, the average of the top regular season NCAA games double up the Premiere League.
