The committee already said anyone who isn't playing this weekend is locked in so...

I agree. Let Miami and Clemson battle for ACC and kick undeserving bama out

Yup. Nothing to gain. A spot in the playoffs to lose.

SMU would be better off as an independent

All teams not in the SEC or B1G are better off being independents

It's wild that teams that weren't good enough to make their conference championship are "locked in" and teams that were could be punished for playing in it. What a stupid fricking system.

Not every conference is the same

I don’t mind the implication that, if you’re playing this weekend, it’s generally a good idea to win. They’re talking to teams that can’t afford another loss

They really said that? Figured an 11-2 SMU might push out Bama

we do have conflicting information on that scenario

If SMU loses to Clemson, can SMU drop below Alabama?

Unless smu just gets their teeth kicked in by Clemson I’d be surprised if they did that tbh.

I’ve been screaming for over a year that conference championship games need to go away. Nothing to gain, too much to lose.

Punished for playing yet the other losers that lost to Vandy and Oklahoma (annd only scored 3 points) are locked in. Pathetic

Yeah, if you're in the SEC you can lose all kinds of games and the committee will just say it doesn't matter b/c they will award you wins in hypothetical matchups. Great system!!!

They won’t go away because the conferences would have to give back lost TV money and we know that’s not happening, they don’t give a shite about fairness

I mean technically they win a bye, so in a way the ACC championship is really just their first round game.

This is something that's going to have to be rectified going forward, because we're a few weird losses off from the SEC being in the same situation and it's only a matter of time before the Big Ten is facing the same scenario. CCG are probably dead in the near future

SMU should say whole team has covid

Out of abundance of caution they must not play the game buts its NOT a forfeit!
