Yeah because we never saw blowouts in a 4 team playoff.

For fricks sake you guys should take up scrapbooking. You obviously don’t like sports.

Tulane put up 200+ yards on Ole Miss in a half and had a critical drop that would have yielded points. They’re hanging around, and get the ball out of half, which is how upsets happen.

Notre Dame would have been up by 70 on Ole Miss…

….wait….Ole Miss is in the SEC….TEXAS would be up by 70 at halftime right now.

Not sure this is correct considering a lot of the regular season became meaningless.

It’s meaningless because you have a team that doesn’t have to play in a conference nor win a conference and gets an auto invite. People should be more upset about Notre Dame in any playoff game than a Group conference champion.

None of these teams are near as good as champions prior to all this NIL transfer portal crap. 2019 LSU, several Bama, and Georgia champions would beat all these teams by 30. Therefore the more the merrier if you ask me. We act like this Ohio State team is good. They just lost to Indiana. How bad do you think 2019 LSU beats them? College football is watered down.

I’m on the fence with the overall thought of the thread but this is a laughable take considering the parity of the NFL.

Now that college football has completely surrendered to the money gods, parity is coming for college football too.

This is completely false.

Tell me all the regular season games that are more meaningless now than before the 12 team playoff.

Expanding the field by definition means more games matter because more teams get in. Not every game has the same importance, but overall dozens of more games matter

Yea, college football was so much better when your team drops a hard fought nailbiter early in the season and packs it in.

This less teams is better argument is lazy and frankly, ignorant

What should have happened is we keep the BCS rankings but keep the traditional bowl tie ins. After the bowl games, the top 2 ranked teams square off to name a national champ.

The same people saying reduce the playoff also say more bowl games are better because it’s more football and can’t wait for the first NFL preseason game

FIFY

Alabama getting a mulligan after going 9-3, which includes a blowout loss to FSU, is a mockery of the CFP. Being a brand name and playing in a super conference shouldn’t guarantee a playoff spot.

Top four conference champs, mathematical formula/decision tree with no committee (so we can prevent the shenanigans that got us the 12 team playoff in the first place).

Or top 6 conference champs, and break up the superconferences so we have a P6 or P7 again. Let a G5 in if they're unbeaten and you have a really bad power champ like Duke this year or Pitt in 2004.

So in 2023 UGA was ranked #1 (12-0) going in the SECCG,lost a close game, dropped to 6th and were out of the playoffs that were so by a Michigan who they crushed a year earlier.

You really think that's best way to decide a CFP champion?
