Good for him but this is obscene. I don't watch MLB much but I'll probably never watch again.

The Dodgers are one of the best run franchises in sports. Pretty sure they know what they are doing more than the keyboard warriors in this thread

MLB is absolutely fleecing the advertisers. There is no way in hell that local TV deals are worth the money MLB gets for them. Zero percent chance.

Ohtani is already showing signs of injury issues on the pitching side. As he continues to age, this will be a common occurrence and he’ll eventually just be a $70M per year, designated hitter.

Awful and nonsensical contract from top to bottom and also completely disrespectful to other great players in MLB. He’s not worth anywhere near $70M per year. This was just one of those situations where a few billionaires fought over who could blow the most money and “make history”.

Source confirms: Yankees trading SS prospect Trey Sweeney to the Dodgers for LH reliever Victor Gonzalez and 2B/3B Jorbit Vivas. Move clears 40-man roster spots for Shohei Ohtani and Joe Kelly.

Well of course they do

They're gonna make some profit, and if it turns out they happen to win the WS, more the merrier

Any Dodger fan that thinks otherwise is a fool. Hell, their fans show up in the 3rd inning and leave to beat traffic. Not that big a deal.

: Shohei Ohtani will defer $68 million per year of his $70 million annual salary over the course of his 10-year, $700 million deal with the Dodgers, allowing the team to keep spending, according to a person briefed on the terms.

Shohei Ohtani has the greatest team-first contract structure in the history of professional sports

Per @FabianArdaya, $680 million of his $700 million contract will be deferred, with Ohtani only making $2 million per season in cash flow. LA will have so much extra money to spend

Shohei Ohtani's historic deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers allows him to opt out if owner Mark Walter or president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman is no longer involved with the team, industry sources told ESPN.
