You very seldom see a power 5 conference to a mid level school

He was likely gone at the end of the next season anyway. Got out while he could and it helps both teams. I believe he has a home in Houston as well.

He’s jumping off a sinking ship. WVU will be lucky to win 6 next year.

He got a $2m pay raise to go back to a city where he has a full time residence.

Not surprised to see him leave WVU, just surprised to see him land in Houston.

5 year $20M contract. That’s pretty simple. Win 9 games and pull off a big upset every other year and you’re golden.

At houston? No. They just fired a coach for winning 8.

Their expectation is 10 a year.

Sweet that's right by my place I'll have to start popping in there in hopes of running into him.

I think they fired their coach because they knew Dana wanted to coach there.

Outside opinion of Dana.

So a question to the non-wvu, non-houston, non-Okie State, and non-Texas Tech guys.

Do you actually think he is good? His claim to fame is winning an orange bowl with another guy's players and beating Texas a few times during one of their worst stretches in history.

Cougar High is probably one of the top mid-major athletic departments and WVU is probably one of the bottom power 5 departments.

I think he and WVU were kind of over each other. A lot of the fanbase was starting to turn on him.

He gets a new start at a school he has experience at. I think this is a win-win.

WVU isn't the bottom of power 5 conferences. They aren't bluebloods either but they are a solid tier 2 program. Along the same lines as VT, Michigan State, Iowa, South Carolina Etc.

How so

When combining Football and Basketball WVU is one of the better schools out there

Oliver Luck before he left set the Athletic department up for success

For a state of only a million people and virtually no instate talent pound for pound we are a good Athletic department

A clean break was needed. 8 years and no real progress despite having some really talented teams.

Yea we have no QB

But at the skill positions and on defense we will be fine

But Dana hasn’t developed one QB that he was actually recruited

Geno Smith - Bill Stewart Recruit
Trickett - FSU transfer
Skyler Howard - Transfer from JUCO
Will Grier - UF transfer

Only two bowl wins in 8 years isn’t good either

Who is WV supposed to be going after? I’ve thought for the last few years a more run/physical based scheme suits their recruiting base better than what Holgorsen was running so I’m interested to see what they do
