I love tAthletic but it’s almost cookie cutter at times

Coach or executive: *gets fired*

Athletic: The Athletic has learned of a toxic culture inside the locker room including

- long practices

- disconnect between coaching staff/front office

-poor leadership on sideline

Etc

Yeah I’ve been reading them for the past year when they go on special and it takes a few months but eventually you can kind of figure out when the articles are actually insightful and when they are just drumming up content

It's almost like Luka's rookie contract will be up soon.

Not surprising.

He's signing his rookie supermax soon after being named All-NBA First Team again

Cuban should throw an ocean of cash at Ujiri. Don't think he's re-upped with the Raps yet.

Would do cartwheels if he did that

He’s already indicated he’ll sign his extension this off-season that locks him in until at least 2027. That came out last week, and Nelson was reportedly informed he’s out this past weekend, so I imagine Luka was made his thoughts known and was aware of the impending changes before indicating he’ll sign.

Yea I laughed when Bleacher Report was already trying to get the ball rolling with Luka possibly leaving.

Well to be fair, there’s not really any way to “lock in” those super stars given recent history. Not that he will ask out, but history suggests if he did, he would get out whenever he wanted regardless of that contract

If a guy like Porzingas is paid $30 million, why not pay a proven GM like Ujiri at least half of that, Cuban can afford it. A great GM is worth at least as much as a second option on the court and these guys are only making a few million a year now.

I know it could start a bidding war for brass and lead to an executive salary cap but if I were Cuban I'd be laying down the cheese right now.

The problem is Cuban likes to be involved. He's a lot like Jerry in that regard.

Both Jerry and Cuban made great hires/draft picks when they first arrived and have living off the spoils of that ever since. At least Jerry is a great businessman who knows how to market his team to free agents and the media. Cuban really hasn’t done much right in any capacity since hiring Carlisle 13 years ago.
