It’s shite like this is why no one takes the NBA seriously.

As an individual player, Luka is amazing, but he has flaws and you have to build a specific team around him. Tatum offers a lot more on defense and scheme versatility on offense, and we just saw what a team built around him will do to the one Luka demands (embarrassing G-sweep while not even at 100%)
You think if you swapped Tatum and Luka on those teams the result wouldn’t be the same? That Boston team was much more talented than the Mavs.

think the two big issues that make people over rate the Lakers side of this are underestimating the value of Anthony Davis and overestimating the outlier playoff run the Mavericks had last year.
It makes no sense to make a talent downgrade trade where the biggest returning asset is a player, rather than picks. They made a win now trade while simultaneously becoming a worse team. AD isn’t a 1, we’ve seen that play out. Kyrie is also not a 1, we’ve seen that too.

Cuban owns 25% of the team and barely shows up. Nothing is run by him for his approval
Every media guy in the know in Dallas is saying Luke was completely blindsided and still in disbelief. This is going to be his revenge tour, knowing that Nico didn’t want to give him a super max

Now that this is sinking in, I'll just say as a very casual Mavs fan who watches a handful of games if any every year, Luka was the most fun player to watch that I've seen in a while.
I wish him all the best.
I wish him all the best.

And went to L.A.? That'll help

Listened to that pod just now while buying weekly groceries. Was coming to tell people to listen just for that exact exchange/outburst

Just think, some people voted for Kamala because of Cuban
Um, he doesn't own the Mavs anymore dude.
ETA: Cuban doesn't have majority ownership anymore.

How does the league approve this trade? There’s no way on God‘s green earth The Mavs should’ve ever made this trade.

Live view from Crypto.com Arena
Per ESPN, Pelinka instantly made three conference calls 1.) Redick & Davis, 2.) Davis’s agent, 3.) LeBron…….Harrison sent Doncic a text

“Only one ball” has never had validity. Great players will make it work.
We heard “only one ball” for
Lebron to MIA
KD to GSW
CP to HOU
Harden to BKN
Kyrie to DAL
Etc
Etc
None of those teams had many problems winning a ton of games.

From perusing the dedicated Mavericks fan boards and social media from NBA reporters, etc. Take it as you will:
1. This deal has been in the works since early January.
2. The Mavs offered him to one other team but the deal couldn't be worked out.
3. Bottom line, the Mavs were not going to give this guy a SuperMax contract because they felt what he'd require had the potential to cripple the franchise financially and because even though he's "a 25-year-old generational Alpha" (that's what all the fans on their boards who hate this deal are saying), with his conditioning and injury issues they're concerned about how long he's going to be at that "generational Alpha" level. They figured he's gone anyway down the road, so get what they can get for him while the getting's good.

The league probably pushed for this trade to happen so Lebron can make a run at one more title
