That would be a really bad idea because one, depending on what he does with the personal info he could be in big legal trouble and two, a lot of those shaggy guys are in tech and very savvy with lots of resources. Not the most ideal group to piss off.

I hope the original owner had a decent privacy policy. I assume the new owner would inherit that policy and would have to issue a notice of any changes to it.
Even if the policy didn't promise to pay damages for a violation, at least a few members live in, or are currently visiting, states with strict consumer privacy laws for websites/apps. He could get hammered by those states.
