.e. Pitt had a 9 - 3 record with one of their wins coming against youngstown ST. UNC has a record of 8-4 with two of their wins coming against FCS teams (citadel, and Georgia southern).

If you include them, you give the bowl a value of 17 points, otherwise if you don't, the bowl values at 14 points.
hmmmmmmmmmmmm

excellent point,, my initial thought is to exclude those wins,, but lets make this a collaborative effort

what do y'all think?

This is f-ing retarded; if the Big X can go 7-0 and not finish as the best conference this thing is fricked up

i think if they were to go undefeated they would win,, unless another conference also went undefeated and scored more points

My main problem with rewarding more bowl teams is the size of the conference. The SEC starts way above the Pac-10 cause it may be impossible for all the teams to make bowl games in the P-10, so his system gives the SEC, ACC, and Big XII advantages

the OP's formula did that,,

your gripe is with the bowl system that has the tie -ins,,

im just trying to come up with a way to gauge what confernce has the best bowl season,, just win percentage alone isnt enough IMO

I thought it about it some. I might go through later tonight and see how many teams it actually affects.

But I was thinking that since for bowl eligibility they allow one FCS win to count towards it, then you should limit the reward for the bowl game to one FCS win each. So in the case of UNC, their win count would e decreased by one, thus the bowl would reward one point less.

But like I said I would have to go through and look at the schedules later tonight and actually see how much it affects team, bowls, and the end results . It might not even be worth it to do.

Alright, trying to recreate OWL's ratings the best I can.

If anyone notices any mistakes, let me know.

BOWLs ordered by points awarded, no FCS penalty, if they are the same amount of points they are ranked the same.

I think all the BCS games should be worth the same; you're rewarding Texas and Bama when they were undefeated but not rewarding TCU Boise and Cinci

So if the SEC beats:

Northwestern
Texas A & M
East Carolina
Clemson
Connecticut

and loses to:

Texas
Cincy
Penn State
Va. Tech
Oklahoma State

They would be the best. Nice little system you got there.

Yep, because you won't find another conference who had more bowl teams or bowl wins.

Kentucky is just as much a part of the SEC as Alabama is.

What's better: a great top and a shitty bottom, or a pretty good top and a pretty bad bottom?

They're the same when you're talking about conferences as a whole. I can't believe so many people can't grasp that.

what about a decent mid-seed team from a small conference,, might they not be better than a shitty low seed from a BIG conference?

at the very least, why not give them a chance,, see a different team on TV,, gives the casual viewer something new AND grows the sport,, all of college football benifits from that
can u not grasp that?

and all this top/bottom crap is gay

Have you ever heard of the St. Petersburg Bowl, Las Vegas Bowl, Poinsettia Bowl, Texas Bowl, International Bowl, or Liberty Bowl?

The SEC as a whole dominates the other conferences as wholes. In each whole is a top, bottom, middle, etc...

I just thought your rating system might turn out pretty well. And you are apparently are too much of a lazy arse to actually implement it.
