They will want to make an unofficial deal, off the record, that he does not sue in exchange.
Refusing to drop the charges at the first opportunity is just making sure that a lawsuit definitely happens.
And you know that golf course has to be losing their shite over it because this dumbfrick cop is costing them the opportunity to hold an event again anytime soon.

Correction, the dumbfrick cop AND DA are costing the entire city the opportunity to host a large event again.

Uh, the question of charges isn’t up to the police at this point. That’s for the DA’s office.
Arresting officers are almost always consulted when there is a discussion on whether charges are dropped or downgraded

They are probably embarrassed, but this isn't costing Valhalla anything. The PGA of America sold the course in the recent past. So, it's likely not going to host any PGA Championships going forward, and it's not a US Open level course. So, as far as top level golf, this was Valhalla's last hurrah anyway.

The cop acted like an over-officious a-hole drama queen.
Scheffler acted an entitled spoiled trust fund baby.
LPD is looking for a preemptive apology from Scheffler before June 3 so they can save face and everyone can move on.
DON'T CARE either way. Neither is worthy of respect or the attention this incident has commanded.

Seeing shite like this is pretty frustrating after watching the videos. If this was some random person and not Scottie Scheffler, that person’s life would be ruined because of dumbass cops who crave power.
He didn’t drag a cop. He stopped immediately once the cop hit his window.
It’s a joke if these charges aren’t dropped.

Yeah Scottie handled it with such grace and class. The mayor’s office is going to want to know why he was processed at all

That's what I said on the OT. You and I would be fighting for our lives.

Didn’t the cop go to the hospital because of wrist pain too? The guy hurt his hand from smacking the window and is trying to claim he was dragged.
I’m all for supporting police too. But getting these type of idiots out of there should be step 1.

Dude - you can’t be serious.

There needs to be bigger consequences for blatant lying like this. A felony is no joke, cop should be fired immediately with automatic ban from any type of law enforcement, and charged with a felony as well.

So the union would want this video in court with the officer to go to trial? Makes no sense. Drop the charges, reprimand the officer, move on. The longer it goes on the likelihood the DA, and the police will look worse for longer in the news cycle.

At what point is Scheffler able to sue the department for libel/slander, because in no way shape or form was that cop being dragged. The PD seems to be doubling down on this stupidity
Posted on 5/23/24 at 2:32 pm to GeauxtigersMs36
The police union is gonna keep shoveling the bullshite no matter what.
Posted on 5/23/24 at 2:42 pm to saintsfan22
Everything will be dropped except the least serious charge, Scottie will make a "donation" to the cop's windows and orphans fund, and it will all go away.

The report also said a pair of $80 pants were ruined. Perhaps he shite in them.
