There is more talent parity in the nfl than CFB?
Of course, yes.

He's not going to the pros. I still believe he's holding out for USC next year.

Half of the time, the 4th best team in the country looks like a high school freshman team playing an nfl team in the first CFB semifinal. That same 4th best team will cruise past their entire conference with 1-2 tough games.

In CFB, you’ll also have walk ons covering guy that will be pro bowlers the following year.

Friend,

I suspect Urban Meyer to be very similar to Nick Sabin. Neither coach is very intelligent, nor very good at schemes, nor very good at game day coaching

Nick Saban beat Billy B and Brady with Joey Harrington at QB. 21-0

Held Brady to 12/25 with only 78 yards and 55.1 rating. Also sacked him 4 times.

Nick Saban is a great defensive mind an an elite game day coach.

Not happening, though I’m of the mindset that he needs to get out of all football-related decisions and leave it to the front office and coaching staff.

He can't be Jerry Jones lite if he does that, though.

To be fair, Adam Gase has similar games like this on his resume from his time in Miami

Brady has had a number of rough games in Miami for whatever reason

Kliff Kingsbury is doing ok in the NFL and he isn't half the coach Meyer is.

A little early. 5-10 last year and choked away a playoff spot this year and has made some real head scratcher decisions

Some personality’s just wont work with grown men... drafting players and recruiting players two totally different things... plus the economics (players making more than the coaches) make it much harder

I really don’t think he would be a good NFL head coach..... he is to much of a control freak....

they are both excellent at bending the rules and suspending morality in order to build programs that attract the best talent. Their teams win because they have a superior talent.

Who do you think is responsible for DEVELOPING talent? Meyer took over a 5-6 Utah program and went 10-2 in 2003 and 12-0 in 2004. He took over a 7-5 Florida team and went 9-3 in 2005 and 13-1 and a NC in 2006. He took a 6-7 Ohio State program and went 73-8 over the next 7 seasons. I hate the guy but you have to admit that everywhere he goes he wins early with other coach’s recruits and not because he had his program stockpiled with superior talent.

How do you know he's not a pro coach? They said the same thing about Jimmy Johnson. He seemed to make the transition pretty well. Parcels started as a college assistant. I think he worked out.

As far as his system, why not? The NFL has moved closer to Urbs' type of offense over the last decade, so not sure how much adjustment he'd have to make.

Just think his talent would be wasted in the NFL. He's a phenomenal recruiter and builder of programs. No recruiting in the NFL and they don't give you a lot of time to build. Add to that his "health" issues, doesn't make sense.

Right, which means there's more parity in the NFL, but you quoted and questioned the guy who said there's more parity in the NFL.

Sounds like you're arguing both sides or just interpreted his original comment incorrectly?

Yeah but let's be real. Florida and OSU had plenty of talent on those teams when he got there. Florida signed the #20, #2, and #7 classes in the three years prior to Urban getting there. He also signed what 247 still lists as the best recruiting class ever in 2010 and then went 8-5 that year.

That OSU team was 6-7 after Tressel was fired in May. That had had 6 straight 10 win seasons and won 10 games or more in 8 of the 9 previous seasons and played in a BCS Bowl in each of those 8 seasons. Yes he's a great coach, but again it was a loaded situation.

Oh Lord. The Atlanta media is starting to run w/the idea that Meyer should be the Falcons coach. Part of me wants to see them do it, b/c that is the type of move that Blank would be dumb enough to make. He only cares about the flash and not actually the important things. And a lot of this fanbase is the same way. If it ain't flashy, it ain't worth it. And Meyer would be flashy.

I want to see them do it. Just to watch the trainwreck that it would be. Urban is not a pro coach.
