Yeah, and what is funny is all of the condescension in the first few pages with people jumping on my because they assumed I was against Sam because he was gay. It was interesting to watch. And, every one of them have been sucked in by the propaganda.
Sam might have had good intentions at first. I don't know him. But, what he did today let me know that all that we are going to know about Sam is that he is gay.
That isn't something that I care about when it comes to football. If you are gay or straight - whatever - all that matters is if you can play. It is like any other job.
As for team chemistry, what difference does it make if a gay man is on the team or in the locker room? Who cares?
But, Sam has let us know that it matters a great deal to him and he is going to make a big deal out of it as often as possible.
The sad thing is that Sam is just a pawn. We saw that today. How much do you want to bet that an ESPN producer put him up to all of that just to make it a bigger story?
This. Exactly this.
I completely support gay marriag, but the nonsense today wwas absurd.

Just laying the groundwork for his reality show on Bravo.
It was definitely egged on by espn though, at one point you could see someone ask what appeared to be his straight friends/teammates to step back out of the screen so it just showed Sam and his partner.
Also, none of the A&M players that were drafted smeared cake on their boyfriend's face and licked it off.....just Sam.

Thousands of other draftees have grabbed their girlfriend and rubbed cake all over her face on national TV and then kissed it off?
they have kissed their significant others.
why does the extra part of cake make you think GAY?

It always comes back to the cake for some reason.

I think kissing the boyfriend on national tv was a normal show of suprise and affection.
Smashing the cake is the over the top part that screams, LOOK at me, and my boyfriend! Exactly what he said he didn't want.
Whatever, it doesn't matter. You are assuming the OPs true intention, and the OP (me too) is assuming Sam's true intention.
What and what

well when you assume you make an arse of u and me, and if the OP hadn't assumed we wouldn't have made asses of our selves and him.

ESPN stuck with the celebration too long, is what I took from it.

Ironically, I haven't even seen any part that happened with the cake. I walked away after three kisses on the lips and the biceps rub. At that point, I thought Sam was just doing what they do. I didn't want to see that, but apparently that wasn't enough.

Yep, that's all it was. A simple mistake.

I think that Sam just proved that he is going to be a major headache.
That is why I am saying he has been lying.
Thanks for basically agreeing.
I saw him crying and kissing his boyfriend but I didn't see any cake smearing. Maybe that was in another clip. I don't care, people celebrate in their own way.
This guy will be lucky if he makes an NFL roster. Maybe he'll turn into a Tom Brady or Richard Sherman late-round surprise, but the odds are against him. So my capacity to care about Michael Sam in any way is limited.
I don't blame Michael Sam for coming out, it is probably better that he do that in advance. His problem is going to be ESPN and the media. ESPN clearly wants this to be a story and they'll track his every move. That in the end is what may hurt him, not anything that he does himself.

OP has posted what? 40 times over 3 hours to say he doesn't care he's gay but hates him. And hates cake displays of affection. OP, your attempt to smokescreen your own sexuality has backfired to a biblical degree (ironic). I will always remember you on TD for how gay your were tonight. And you passionate hate for cake.

quote:It was wayyy over the top hetero or homo. At first I thought it was intentional. Now Idk, maybe the vast majority of gays are really just that flamboyant. If so I think that is a bigger bridge to their complete acceptance than the fact that they are gay. Nobody wants to watch shite like that from heteros or homos.
why does the extra part of cake make you think GAY?

No. I am criticizing him for smearing cake all over his face and then kissing it off.
See the difference?
It would have been ridiculous for a straight couple to do it.
For someone in Sam's position who is trying to show the normalcy of gay players in the NFL, it was pretty stupid.
I think you make a decent point.
It's also a tough sell when your boyfriend is basically the perfect stereotype of a gay man. Sam has unwittingly reinforced every gay stereotype that exists.

Biggest joke was sportscenter leading with this silliness. Didn't some players who actually will make rosters get drafted today? Crucial playoff games in hockey and the nba?? Yet this is the biggest story???? SMH

But, smearing cake all over each other and kissing it off of their lips?
did they really do this?
