Not that it's a bad thing, because he needs the help. But right now, Russ is averaging 10.3 rpg and with Kanter being back plus the acquisition of Taj, he will not have the same necessity to attack the boards. He'll probably come up short because of this.

Still MVP though

Still MVP?? Harden is going to win that. You see the Rockets last night? A guy shooting 35 percent and lower with the ball all game with a team that could easily drift closer to 500 by seasons end is the MVP? Oh, you know that is not how this will end.

He's not shooting 35%, and OKC is going to be nowhere near .500.

He's actually averaging more than 10.6 per game (10.3 assists though), so if he plays in all 22 remaining games, he would have to average almost 2.4 rebounds less per game.

As soon as Taj realizes he's not allowed to rebound missed free throws, Westbrook will be fine.

Even though Russ and Harden are both having historical seasons

I really feel if Westbrook ends the season averaging a triple double he will win the MVP.

You can see how the media is treating the chase for the triple doubles. I see some kind of graphic or scroll or mention of how many triple doubles Russ has and how close he is and all of that every time he plays

My butthurt will be real if Westbrook wins it. Two years ago, everyone said that Curry had to win over Harden because his team was better, and now it feels like the criteria is the complete opposite.

But I also feel like Harden was being really hyped up around this time in the season. I just don't see how all of those media members are going to be able to vote a guy on the 7th over a guy on the 3 seed. People seem to have quickly forgotten that the Rockets were considered a bubble playoff team in the preseason.

With KD Out for bit looks like they will drop below CC for #1 offense james is gonna have the #1 offense in the league maybe top 5 all time. Wow. With a couple "bad FA signing" as his main help. Oh and he is spear heading a top 10 D over the last 20 as well.

I give the nodge to westbrook for MVP, but both guys are deserving, and one of them has to come in second.
The thing Westbrook has going for him is his supporting cast is rather terrible. They are 2nd to last in 3P%. He literally has to do everything for them to win. It's not like he's just racking up stats on a bad team and losing. He's racking up stats on a bad team and winning b/c of it.
I'd have no problem is Harden wins it though.

My problem is that the Rockets and Thunder were considered equal teams going into the year. We have two main rotation players from the Pelicans. Now I don't want to go full Kobe-fan and say my team sucks to hype up a player, but it is so clear that Harden is making his teammates better.

Okc team

PF - 6484
PA - 6467

They are one game v HOU away from being outscored on the season at the 75% mark. This is not a good team. Not a threat to win even one playoff series.

I agree with this. While I think they can steal a game or two in the first round I don't think they have the horses to win one in the West.

over that time frame they are a top 10 d and have inched their way up to 8th best offense in the history of the league.
