the dumb-frickery is strong with this one
Which brings me to my next point folks: dont smoke crack.
quote:
Paul’s Who? Me? protestations aren’t very convincing and, in truth, he doesn’t try that hard. He claims no control over L.A.’s personnel decisions and takes umbrage at the suggestion that he’d send Davis—still, for the moment, a Pelican—into a less than ideal situation to help the man who changed his life and made him rich.
“Did you say that to David Falk? Would you say that to Arn Tellem?” Paul says of two agents who juggled vast stables of clients without charges of conflict of interest. “You’re only saying that because you feel like, ‘Well, Rich wouldn’t be in this position without LeBron,’ right? My thing is: Take LeBron off the Lakers. Are the Lakers not a great destination for an arguably top-two player that went to Kentucky and won a national championship, signed with Nike? For a team that’s had centers from George Mikan to Wilt Chamberlain to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to Shaq?
“So now, when you add LeBron, that’s what? The cherry on top. LeBron’s 34 years old. Anthony Davis is 26. So when LeBron’s done playing, the Anthony Davis trade is still rolling. What better place to do it than L.A.? If it was L.A.—I never said ‘L.A.’ But there’s no negative to that. Who gives a s--- what you’re talking about, about me trying to help LeBron out? No, I’m not. I’m trying to help Anthony Davis. Now, if helping Anthony Davis helps LeBron in the long run? So be it. But my goal is Anthony Davis.”
quote:
“See, everybody wants to fabricate the facts when it’s me,” Paul says. “That’s just like saying, ‘No, A-Rod, don’t marry J-Lo. Are you out of your f---in’ mind, man?’ This is Jennifer Lopez! I mean, who would you rather me marry? The Lakers are Jennifer Lopez. You don’t want me to date Jennifer Lopez? Give me a reason I shouldn’t date J-Lo!”
Which brings me to my next point folks: dont smoke crack.

I love where he admits going public with the AD trade because Dell had the nerve to speak with AD about it. What a clown!

Feels like this has crossed the line of tampering at this point
Really not sure why these dudes let this leach influence them in any way

Crazy how imbeciles like Rich Paul can climb to these types of positions thanks to imbeciles like Lebron. Rich is a moron.

seems like this stereotype is in every sports movie and story for the last 20 years
I can already see the headline in 2030 that Rich Paul was embezzling money from Lebron this whole time

Not even the combined powers of rich Paul and lebron can get a super star player to team up with lebron in LA. As alluring as it’s gotta be to move to the west coast and live that lifestyle, lebron has made his bed with regard to his teammates. And now he gotta deal with the repercussions. These guys around the league all know he is a snake who will try to trade you behind your back. And then blame you when the squad loses. And be a glory hog when the squad wins. And people here seriously thought hardwn was the exception or stupid for not wanting to play with him. It is damn near the consensus isn’t it that top end guys don’t wanna.

Well, it's not surprising. LeBron doesn't get hurt, they still make the playoffs. He did a lot with some really crap Cleveland teams, but that was in the East.

“It was necessary to go public,” Paul says. “When I told you, ‘Here’s our intentions,’ and you say, ‘Hey, let me talk to ownership,’ and instead of you talking to ownership you call Anthony Davis? That’s called being ignored.” And trying to get between a player and his agent? “That’s a no-no,” Paul says. “Every GM knows that.”
Weak spin job Rich. fricking weak.

The Wikipedia article on Rich Paul is so great:
Nothing says early aughts cringe like intentionally misspelling the name of your company. KLUTCH
quote:
After graduating high school, Paul was buying throwback jerseys from Atlanta and selling them out of his trunk in Cleveland. In 2002, he met LeBron James at the Akron-Canton Airport, where James was impressed by Paul's authentic Warren Moon throwback jersey. The two exchanged contact information, and soon Paul had sold James a Magic Johnson Lakers jersey and a Joe Namath Rams uniform.
In 2003, after the NBA draft, LeBron hired Paul to be a part of his small inner circle. He would later start working under Leon Rose, who had negotiated LeBron's extension with the Cavaliers in 2006, at Creative Artists Agency. In 2012, Paul left Rose and CAA to start his own agency, Klutch Sports Group, and took LeBron with him.

At this point I really think Silver needs to issue a large fine for this article and threaten him with expulsion from the league.
If magic saying other players are great gets him a collusion fine this article warrants the same.

Rich Paul after lebron finds him stealing half his money and kicking Paul out his house

Somoene on twitter put out a reminder to not read a whole lot into this SI article when it comes to the "current" negotiations because the interview is from back in March.
