It’s not about the honesty. I’m ok with someone being straight up

It’s the timing of the release of the article and it’s him consistently reminding people.

Other GM/POBO are adults and they can make their own decisions. The dude is trying to assert himself by getting in the way of teams making moves. It’s a president that cannot be established. At this point, by trading AD to LA, it tells everyone that an agent can bully a franchise

so we are blaming rich Paul for when Si releases article?

this what I mean. pelstalk a complete shite show.

wanting to add a "rich Paul tax" to the deal all because Rich Paul said what AD want to do. that's all.

No, add a Rich Paul tax because that a-hole is attempting to tank the value that the Pels can re-coup in an AD trade. If everyone actually believed all of the bullshite that Paul said, then the Pels would get zero value in an AD trade, because he would only play for the Lakers. Luckily, everyone knows he's full of shite.

It's a bit late for that. He said that Dell leaked the trade demand, and then admitted that it was him in this article, FOH.

I think if you're being honest with yourself, rich Paul saying it publicly does zero to change the reality of the situation.

being mad at AD, I do understand. but Rich is honestly just supporting his client with hard truths some teams do not want to hear

Yes and no. LeBron has a ton of clout with any team because he's LeBron. If Paul represented a bench player, no one would think he held sway over the Lakers.

Any power Paul has with the Lakers is because of LeBron. The same isn't true in reverse.

I don’t deny that RP is AD’s mouthpiece. AD is 100% complicit. And again I’m not mad at RP saying that AD wants to go to LA

I’m saying that the frequency and timing of this piece plus others is way overstepping his boundaries in trying to influence negotiations. And it’s hard for me to believe that this SI article wasn’t in their back pocket to drop at the right time

personally i think a deal is pretty close to being done and the only real thing holding it back right now is the league wanting them to wait for the finals to end

If AD gets traded to Boston its gonna be real hard to reject a max extension with a big market team that has a roster already in place to compete for a championship after seeing Boogie and KD both have major career changing injuries in back to back years. Boogie already missed out on a boatload of money since he went from being in line for a max contract to the mid level exception on a prove it deal. We’ll have to see what happens with KD. But will AD want to risk being in same position if he gets hurt?

You’re probably right that it’s closer than we think, but a lot of local Pelicans guys have been saying that Griffin has no timetable to get a deal done.

But I agree that the NBA if anything else knows how to market themselves & stay in news year round

i dont think this article means much for the discussions personally. the only thing even remotely messing with a potential deal is the comment about the lakers being jlo and him not playing for the celtics which is stuff hes already said. think he was just given a chance to speak his mind and he took it, regardless of how dumb he sounds

the are going to say that regardless, imo. i think he has a clear benefit to getting a deal done before the draft, if only so he can figure out who he wants with the extra draft picks

The reason I say that, is because there has been so much posturing on both sides. I’m just not sure it’s a coincidence the article was released today.

Every move and quote by both sides has been pretty calculated

Paul is a clown who was selling throwbacks out of his trunk until he met LeBron.

On the other hand nothing but love for Maverick Carter who is a self-made success story.
