Rev. Al Sharpton weighs in on the Justin Fields immediate eligibility case

“Justin Fields is a top-rated college football,” Sharpton said. “He has played for the Georgia Bulldogs. He was constantly harassed by verbal attacks calling him the N-word. It affected him so much he decided to transfer to the Ohio (State) Buckeyes. And now the objection has come from Georgia (State sic) that he should not be allowed to play for a year. The NCAA is meeting this week to decide if they should give him a waiver.
“I wonder if any in the NCAA has suffered the humiliation of being top-rated, good at what you do, but no matter what you do being called a racial name. What it does to your skills, your character, what it does to your mind as you prepare to go out and do what you excel at, which only generates dollars and attention for the college you attend.
“I would hope the NCAA realizes that to take him off the field a year for transferring because of racism is in many ways to cosign the insults that he’s had to endure. We need this nation to stand up and say the victims cannot be penalized.
“And we cannot tolerate victimizers believing they can hurt the careers of people they have already crushed inside themselves.”
To summarize, yep, Fields is your day 1 starter at OSU.

Dont let this make you forget that Tate stands for tathan

We all knew this would happen.
If I were Fields, I wouldn't want a race baiter to be weighing in on this, but on the other hand, the more of a circus this creates the more likely the NCAA will want to approve the waiver to make it go away.
I also love how he says Ohio Buckeyes and Georgis State
Keep on keeping on, Rev.

Glad to see Al Sharpton is making stuff up here.
Who needs facts anyways?

There is absolutely ZERO chance the NCAA doesn't grant him a waiver

There it is, this tactic never gets old. If you don't give me what I want you must condone whatever acts I'm complaining about.

Justin, what’s wrong? You’re not playing like yourself out there today. What’s the deal?
Coach, I just can’t stop thinking about what that white guy said about me. Just feeling really out of character today.

UGA better get other players, students, and alumni lined up defending the school and environment. Otherwise, this is about to get ugly quick.
Facts don’t matter in these situations. It’s not easy to shake being labeled a racist institution.

Seems pretty thin skinned. I think he opted to make these claims (whether or not true) to help his transfer case.

If one race-baiting idiot, who uses the same tactic time after time to draw attention to himself and get his way, has the power to label an entire institution as racist, we're in (more) trouble (than I think we already are).

it's not just UGA
if this instance is considered 'enough' by the NCAA, then every single institution in the USA will have to be on their toes.

I wonder what Justin’s answer would be if they asked him if he would have stayed at Georgia if he would have taken the starting job.

This is a major change to the story.

I wonder if anyone involved in the situation will have the backbone to stand up and correct Sharpton's inaccuracies...
ONE person out of a crowd of 93K was heard calling him the N word, that one person also was forced to privately and publicly apologize, and then was kicked off the UGA baseball team. What more could UGA have done?
The Fields camp will just proudly accept his endorsement and move on.

Everyone knows this move was made solely to get Fields into a starting QB job. The NCAA will be forced to approve his eligibility though once enough race baiting has been laid out there.
