We have had some bad years, but we're not Rutgers bad. Tulane has a higher ceiling - see 1998.

Under Greg Schiano, Rutgers went as high as #2 at one point during the last decade. Remember Ray Rice?

Idk why but this notion is cracking me up. Tulane would vr a better fit with the big east than the big 12.

2006 Rutgers, I remember that season. They will probably never be that good again. Tulane might not either... But my point is Rutgers has an overall worse program than Tulane, even with their recent success.

It's not even a knock on tulane, I just think culturally Tulane students would have more in common with the metropolitan big east schools... Georgetown, Syracuse, Notre Dame, etc. come to mind.

Fritz is a good coach and I think Dannen will be a really good AD. tulane is on the upswing, just need to improve quickly

if vandy fits into the SEC, then tulane would do fine in the big 12. frankly, it would have more potential than iowa state, and probably schools like kansas and kansas state. sadly, scott cowen spent his tenure trying to turn the school into a liberal arts college in the Northeast like Amherst when he could have been building the athletics program. good riddance.

Pretty sure they were never ranked #2.

And their greatest season ever ended with a 2nd place finish in the Big East and a Texas Bowl win.

Scott Cowen can drink bleach

Academics regressed under his watch too, so I don't really know what he was doing except collecting a paycheck and occupying empty space.

they absolutely were after they beat a really highly ranked Louisville team

Eta: I just checked. The team that got as high as #2 was USF. Rutgers was #7

I am game for it. LSU and Saban needs some competition for the SLa cruits. Saban is taking all of the ATM.

WVU just wants a travel partner east of Texas so damn bad. They need to support Cincy, that is a better bet.

Eh, part of the logic behind expansion is the current Big 12 teams can't make money like the SEC or B1G can. The plan is to use expansion to force ESPN and Fox to give a pro-rata amount for each expansion team as per the contracts and then buttfrick those teams into taking a smaller payout (early on which means forever) so that the current Big 12 teams can make more money overall (for a while).

The problem is that stuff like the money from the playoffs WON'T grow a pro-rata amount, so whoever gets added will get SUPER butfricked to make sure the OUs of the world make they money they want to shut up and be happy.

Tulane would make more money in the Big 12 but it wouldn't be gamechanger money by design.

That's true but Big 12 teams getting games in NOLA would at least help w/Louisiana recruiting. It wouldn't completely mitigate the loss of all the Texas recruits that have starting going to SEC schools but it could at least make things more level.

basically but it would still be good for Tulane and for Nola generally. I'd check out the OU or UT games.

How far back is your line for relevancy?

That being said, Tulane hasn't had a 78-0ish loss anytime recently

Not sure what you're laughing at. Academics is a big thing. These conferences like to have token academic institutions for a variety of reasons.

Why do you think Vanderbilt is in the SEC?

Not saying Tulane gets in though. I don't think they have a real shot.

Because it was a founding member that was grandfathered in.
