2007 was so batshit insanely unreal that it permeated all of college football. This happened in FCS that season - Third-ranked UMass lost a game to one-win Rhode Island.

The score was tied at 6 after regulation. URI kicked two field goals. UMass had scored three safeties.

Chad Jones

That was a bad man in 2007! One of the best college athletes ever. He would receive a targeting penalty in every game if he played today.

LSU and USC were the two best teams. UGA was good too. We were robbed of UGA/USC rose bowl that year.

It would been a better game than OSU/LSU. OSU's regular season L was to Illinois. When SC got healthy for the Rose Bowl, they reamed that same Illinois team.

That was the issue with the later teams in Carroll's era. In 08, they smoked #5 Ohio State 35-3, then lost to Oregon State the next week. They'd murder better opponents and then just drop inexplicable games to subpar teams.

Oregon was in the hunt until Dixon went down. They were a damn good team.

was happy LSU made it in 2007. Ohio State was so overrated, it was so nice to see a good team expose them...

Again. Because in 06 people were clamoring for UM OSU rematch only to have both get the doors blown off of them in the bow games.

The Pitt / W Va was the worst officiated game I can remember. Big East officials tried their best to get WVA in the title game.

UT BARELY escapes with Ws against Vandy and Kentucky to close out the year, limping. If either of those games are Ls, a surging UGA plays are very injury plagued LSU in the SECCG. Things could have turned out a lot differently for LSU and Miles, Richt and UGA. Another instance in a long line of UGA coming up just short.

It still puzzles me how Tennessee didn't just beat Georgia in 2007, but blew them the freak out. That same Tennessee team then turned around and got blown the freak out by an Alabama team that had struggled mightily to beat Houston and Ole Miss in back-to-back games.

LSU Alabama, LSU Auburn and LSU Florida were fantastic games. I was on the edge of my seat for all 3.

App State beating Michigan
Colorado beating Oklahoma
Stanford beating USC
Arkansas and Kentucky beating LSU
Hawaii going 12-0
Kansas going 11-0 only to get thumped by Mizzou
West Virginia and Mizzou both in the top two only to lose in their final games.
Cal, USF, Kansas, and Boston College were all ranked 2nd at one point

I remember watching Pitt upset West Virginia and losing my goddamn mind because we were ranked 4th but I guess we're not Alabama.

Felt bad for Hawaii though they just happened to run into an extremely pissed off Georgia team.

Yeah I remember some phantom holding calls on Pitt that game on plays where McCoy had big runs (one may have been for a TD?). I just remember me and my paw paw watching the game and they'd show replays and we'd look at each other like "I didn't see anything remotely like holding, did you?"

That was also the year Matt Ryan had that drive against VT early in the year. Which I mean was cool but they really drive that hype machine into the ground all because of that, and VT won the game that mattered.

Also VT played a game against Georgia Tech that year where some VT players: Tyrod Taylor, Sean Glennon, Kam Chancellor and Brandon Flowers either lost their uniforms or had them stolen. So they literally had to borrow practice jerseys from GT and write their names in with sharpies and black out the GT logo
