re: Refs eviscerated for controversial foul call in Samford-Kansas March Madness thriller

Just like some high school refs I know defended the no call Saints/Rams.
I know I catch hate for it on here, but this is legit why I feel and post the way I do about officiating. Hard to have much trust or respect for them after that.

The NCAA and that ref owe Samford a written apology.
Or at least half of the wager the refs placed on this one.

Refs eviscerated
I might just be a crank but I frickin hate this Buzzfeedy clickbait shite that passes for headlines these days.
To eviscerate someone is to disembowel them. Unless those refs were gutted with a machete and their bloody intestines were spilled all over the court because of this foul call, spare me the sensationalism and come up with an accurate headline.

Kansas should forfeit on Saturday

ETA: it's not even like there was incidental contact where a judgement call had to be made, there was zero contact other than hand on ball.
My wife knows nothing about basketball and could see, in real time and on TV, that the guy touched all ball. It wasn't even close.
If the ref thought it WAS close, he should have swallowed his whistle and let play proceed.

Leave it to a Kansas fan to come in here and hijack this thread to mention some jump ball call and then get in a multi page argument about something no one cares about

This is one call folks are going to be talking about for a long time.
I seriously doubt this

What’s the issue? I don’t particularly care about any Tennessee sports other than football. That’s why you hardly see me posting on the rant about UT basketball or baseball.

Of course you supposedly don't care about the program that's never won anything.

Is it that or is it maybe that there was zero exposure to any UT sports other than football when I was growing up in the 90s. I made that abundantly clear in the original post that you quoted. I was born in Boston and raised in the suburbs. The SEC network wasn’t around, ESPNU didn’t exist. Tennessee basketball may have been on national TV 1-2 two times a year. It wasn’t a big deal in our family, unlike football, which fall Saturday’s were planned around. Should I have waited until they became a respectable program to start rooting for them? Wouldn’t that make me a “bandwagon fan?”

Who is we? People on an anonymous message board? The grown man who has to resort to using emojis? You’re more than welcome to check my post history and see all of my posts about UT sports other than football. Spoiler, there aren’t many to be found.

Respectfully disagree.
Bang-bang play on what is a foul 9/10 times and contact was made. Ref is running down the court and sees contact and ball not go in.
Obvi he didnt hit his hand, but in real time that was hard to tell.
Likewise w the saints/rams, if there was a review and they could get the call right its the right answer right??? Like we all want them to get it right
The issue is there should be an official review if there is under 90 seconds and its a foul, out of bounds, goaltend, etc.

Don't engage w/that guy. Myself, 62zip, and a couple of others who officiate ball IRL have tried to get him to understand mechanics/the art of officating and to volunteer but he wants none of it.
He's one of those you see at games that screams at every call.
ETA:Agree with you that there should be automatic reviews of any foul/scoring play with under 90 seconds of game time.

Samford doesn’t pull it to within one without refs help. They called a jump ball after we called time out.
You just said calls are a matter of fortune, then your next post you claim they were just evening the score.
What a loser.
