I don't necessarily agree with this but y'all who are acting like this is crazy need some perspective, they've made changes in sports that have fundamentally change it all the time throughout history.
Just in basketball alone:
- Creating the 3 point line
- not letting a free throw shooter cross the line before the ball hits the rim
- adding the charge circle
- implementing the shot clock
- lengthening the 3 point line
So it's not some crazy unpresidented thing

You do know college baseball fields are smaller than the professional ballparks, right? And they use wooden bats in the pros, but I mean, what's the point? Baseball players have been using aluminum bats since tee ball

Except this is more like changing a football field to 175 yards instead of 100 just because it's not impressive to see some of the fastest athletes world sprint a shorter distance than that for touchdowns.
It's a cockamamie suggestion

A better rule change would be making the basketball hoop smaller in diameter by about 2 inches.

You do realize the direct correlation to this in basketball is the placement of the three point line and it is a further shot in the pros than all lower levels, right?
