Nassib, the NFL’s first openly gay player, felt the need to step away, Las Vegas general manager Mike Mayock announced during a Wednesday press conference. The 28-year-old sixth-year defense end has tallied 1½ sacks and nine total tackles playing in every game for Las Vegas in 2021. “He just said he’s got a lot to process,” Mayock said. “There’s a lot that’s been going on the last few days. And of course, we support that request.”

I don’t really see anything wrong with it. It’s not necessarily him trying to get over the words Gruden said. Maybe he’s overwhelmed because he was all of a sudden thrust into the spotlight and is more so wanting the day off to collect his thoughts from that perspective. The dude become nationally relevant overnight due to people wanting to know his thoughts on his coach using gay slurs. He’s probably got his head spinning from people asking him for comments

I think he was safer from all that on the practice field and training facility than almost anywhere else. It's not going to go away, either.

doesn't seem like a defensive end off the football field...

biggest oxymoron ever at that respective position.

Locker rooms are so close that I guarantee he's heard worse and I bet he didn't care. Sounds like he wants a day off.

What's more important: what Gruden said in an email a decade ago or how Gruden treated him in person as an individual and a player?

Leftists think whatever was said in an email or a tweet 10-12 years ago is far more important. Normal people obviously care more about how they're treated.

Nassib could do society a huge favor and gain a TON of respect by making the following statement before any douchebag sportswriters try and paint him as a victim:

"Coach Gruden always treated me like I was just another one of the guys in the locker room, and I appreciated that. That means a whole hell of a lot more to me than whatever showed up in a random email from 2014. That's all I have to say about this matter and I will not answer any questions about it. Thank you."

If you’ve ever been around a football program before, you know that there’s nothing you’ve haven’t heard. No chances that “****” caused him that much pain now.

Didn’t he already say before coming out that he went overboard trying to look hetero? He probably heard and said a lot of similar stuff during that time period.

Most people that push canceling people like Gruden probably used similar terms a decade ago if not this week in private conversations and messaging/emails. Hopefully one day soon the other end of their conversation will be involved in a lawsuit, investigation, or just hacked, and we will see how hard they push to cancel themselves. I am sure like Joy at MSNBC(or CNBC can’t remember) or Governor blackface nothing will happen.

I don’t disagree.

The ownership, or lack thereof, is killing this team.
