So how much of an a-hole do you have to be that they'll trade you off even though you're producing?
I figured and hoped this was coming when he refused to play first base. That me over team bullshite isn't going to fly in most clubhouses.

The Red Sox got nothing in return, really. They're going to look like Betts when Harrison and Hicks are off the team in three years.

That’s a great haul for Boston IF they can tap into Kyle Harrison. If the light doesn’t come on, then it looks like a questionable deal

He's been an arse this year, but Boston's ownership hasn't shown any want to actually win in almost a decade now.

Betts was a team-first type of player, Devers is a bad attitude that can swing a bat. But yeah the Dodgers trade was an all-time bad one. If they've been hunting for a while and this is the best they could get for Devers it's better than blowing up the clubhouse closing out the season chasing a wild card or division spot just for him to disrupt momentum.

Nothing about this trade makes any sense especially the timing. The Sox had a bunch of momentum and there’s a lot of excitement with Marcelo and Roman being called up and they just blew it up.

Will probably move Bregman before deadline

Front office "leaked" that they thought a 300 million player should be a bigger team player. It will be argued it was a salary/team cancer dump.

Yea no reason to trade him right now unless there was a fundamental breakdown and he demanded out this very second and was going to just leave the team and hold out if they didn't

They’ll probably end up trading him before he ever plays a game for the Sox. They already have a logjam of young outfielders.

Devers is 28? My arse. Dude is at least 35

Straight up salary dump. That's the long and short of it.
Giants could have probably sent less consider they're eating the $$

It's a plus for Red Sox just getting rid of that guy
Posted on 6/15/25 at 9:06 pm to DalenSA
the dude has a $300 million plus guaranteed contract making over $30 million dollars each year and got all in his feelings because the Sox brought in a Gold Glove, third baseman to play the field.
go play first base or designated hitter or wherever else the Red Sox want you to play a-hole.
the sense of entitlement and ego-maniacal attitude from many of these spoiled rotten, pro athletes who have never worked a real job to earn a dollar in their lives is wild.

For once, I agree with you.

Addition by subtraction for Red Sox.
