I can't really disagree with him.

I thought Dorsey was going to make the trip to New York until Chaz Ramsey took out his knee.

Ndamukong Suh should’ve won it over Mark Ingram that one year. Suh was an absolute monster in college that year.

Rolando McClain should have won it over Suh.

Yards and TDs are flashy. Plus with the way the sport is designed, the RBs and QBs can impact a game quite a bit more.

I'd argue in Alabama's case Williams is the more valuable player

Against CFP competition if I had to do without one player for them I'd do without Tua. Williams has a huge impact on their games.

Dorsey for Heisman shirts were all the rage back then.

Everything said in this thread is true.....which is why to this day it’s unbelievable that Charles Woodson won it over Peyton Manning.

Nothing Peyton Manning did in college warranted winning the Heisman and particularly not his senior year

Against elite competition they weren't competitive. You could say that they didn't have the talent to match elite competition but they won the BCS title the next year with Tee Martin so that doesn't fly

Manning had as great of an NFL career as you can imagine but he did not deserve to win the Heisman.

I don’t think Ingram was the best player on that Bama team, FWIW. Rolando McClain was a beast at ILB.

Suh should have won in 2009, and the Honey Badger should have won in 2011. No one player had a bigger impact on CFB in 2011 than HB7. Robert Griffin was deserving, certainly, but the Honey Badger was awesome.

Bama would still be the favorite with Hurts at QB
No shite... but losing Tua is a bigger blow than losing an offensive lineman.

Joe Hamilton is the GT guy that should have won it

Completely agree with Quinnen. But due to the difference in totaling stats for offensive skill players vs. other positions, the heisman will always go to an offensive skill player.

What looks better to the standard voter?

QB with 4,000 passing yards, 30 TDs
or
LB with 45 tackles, 10 sacks.

Obviously the QB.

Now with the emergence of PFF, there would have to be something similar to use to be able to compare athletes across positions accurately AND it has to be mainstream to even give these types of guys a chance.

Losing Tua is the only reason they won the SEC championship game

I can’t stand the guy, but what he did to Texas in the Big12 title game that year should be illegal. Dude wrecked their offense all by himself.

Derrick Thomas followed up an 18 sack season with a 27 sack season. That got him a 10th place finish for the Heisman

That's just criminal.

No doubt. He was otherworldly.

Definitely not on the same level, but Williams absolutely wrecked LSU this year.

There was a good portion of the game where it felt like within 1.5 seconds of every snap he was standing in the backfield effectively ending whatever LSU was trying to do. Hell he was beating double teams then beating a scrambling Burrow to the sideline sometimes. It was incredible.

you just need writers who actually watch games...

and a Suh on a certifiable NC contender with not a good offense

What's so criminal about it is he had all the other things you need to get the media hype rolling, and still didn't even get close.

Played for Alabama.
Had totaled 25 sacks entering his monster junior season.
They let him return 1 punt and he took it 44 yards to the house(wasn't his junior season, just showing that he just had that "it" or dominant star factor).
Then had the best pass rushing season in CFB history.

I don't care that he didn't win or anything. But if he or Suh couldn't get closer than they did, then I'm not sure it will ever happen.

Yeah if that caliber of play doesn't even get you within shouting distance of the award, just forget about it. Smh.

It's sad to even think about what t would take.

Something like a really down QB/RB year and then a Derwin James or Honey Badger snagging 14 INTs and 12 sacks or something. Maybe add some return TDs.
