This is not true. The NFL made a failed argument in an anti-trust suit that they were an entertainment entity in order to claim they were a single entity and couldn’t be guilty of collusion.

Use officials to "manufacture drama"? Absolutely. It has been beyond obvious for decades now. Instant replay only makes it more obvious.
This goes for CFB as well. The SEC is pretty much on par with the NFL when it comes to tilting games.
