Joseph Blandisi with his first NHL point for the Devils. Assisted Henrique goal.

Was the OHL Overage Player of the Year last season with 52 goals and 112 points.

St. Louis gets his number retired by Vermont.

quote:

Former NHL player Martin St. Louis had his jersey number retired by the University of Vermont men's hockey program at Gutterson Fieldhouse in front of a capacity crowd in Burlington, Vt., on Jan. 8.

St. Louis, who wore jersey No. 8 for four seasons, was Vermont's all-time leading scorer with 267 points on 91 goals and 176 assists. He helped lead the Catamounts to their first NCAA Frozen Four berth in 1996 and another NCAA Tournament appearance the following season.

Didn't see at the beginning of the year that the Stars would have a huge gap between games - 6 days off right now. They haven't played since Saturday, some rest they needed before a swing into Cali @Anh, @SJ, @LA starting Friday night.

It was very needed though. Need to get back on track since Chicago has now caught up. Going to be really hard to hold on to the top spot and i dont see it happening.

Stars played 9 games in 15 days before the break. At one point, it was 6 games in 9 days. Strange the schedule would be made like that. They definitely needed the break though.

Caps played 9 in 15 as well. Went 7-1-1 over that stretch, though both loses came in a 5 game/8 day stretch.

This team is really f'n good. I'm not emotionally prepared for this year's playoff collapse. The Caps have a 16-point lead in the Metro. SIXTEEN. That's more than every other division leader combined. They are killing it and are far and away the best team in hockey...

This is so going to suck when they lose in the first round.

Predators are starting to panic after yet another abysmal performance by Rinne last night. 5 goals allowed on 24 shots.

Preds are 2nd in Shots Allowed per game at 26 yet Pekka is allowing 2.57 in per game so everything points to a Pekka problem and the fix isn't easy when Carter Hutton is our backup netminder

John Scott is a Canadien now. All-Star!

quote:

The Arizona Coyotes acquired defenseman Jarred Tinordi from the Montreal Canadiens on Friday in a three-team trade also involving the Nashville Predators. The Predators traded defenseman Victor Bartley to the Coyotes for defenseman Stefan Elliott, and the Coyotes packaged Bartley and forward John Scott to acquire Tinordi and forward Stefan Fournier from the Canadiens.

No, he's not. Scott has been assigned to AHL so is ineligible to play in the game. He's off the roster.

I know people will flip out over this (and already have on twitter), but this was always a mean-spirited campaign that was the hockey fan equivalent of making Carrie the homecoming queen. And yeah, I like screwing with Bettman, but the whole argument made no sense: "The NHL reduced fan voting so we're going to prove we can't vote responsibily at all."

I mean, this was always an organized troll job. I wasn't outraged he made the squad or anything, nor am I outraged the NHL has worked to make it so he can't play in the game. But the fans have proven that they shouldn't have the vote, which is why we can;t have nice things. I am a bit irritated with my fellow hockey fans for acting like assholes, and now trying to pretend this was never about being assholes.

sportslcubstats already have the Caps at 100% to make the playoffs. The Caps had more points right now than four teams did last year in 82 games. Just amazing.
