Aaron Rodgers and Patrick mahomes are the two most gifted athletes to ever play qb in the nfl followed by John elway then probably Steve young. But that’s not all there is to playing quarterback at the highest level. None of these guys are or were bad field generals but that’s where they lacked, at least for some part of their careers. Manning, Brees, and Brady were never great athletes but they were all great quarterbacks. Now most people already know this and are thinking “no shite” while reading this, but I felt the need to post this for those who don’t seem to understand the difference in athletic ability and being a great quarterback. Being a great athlete helps but is not the end all be all for the quarterback position.

One day Mahomes will learn to tell his team "Hey guys, dont give up any touchdowns. And o-line, block please."

Takes time to learn those things though

If he had the right intangibles his teammates would already know those things

Where did I reference championships as a metric for success? Where did I mention the super bowl? Aaron and Patrick are both outstanding quarterbacks with high football iq. But they are not the field generals drew, Peyton and Tom have been. They are gunslingers who are hunting for the big play almost every drop back. They aren’t the technician like the other guys are, who are gonna read the defense and audible to what they think is the perfect play because in their mind, you can’t throw a 50 yard bomb if no ones going deep. Nothing wrong with that because we’ve seen it work time and time again. Mahomes may end up being the greatest qb ever. But it’s not the only way to play qb.

But I get it pride. Brady is constantly on your mind so you think any thread discussing qbs must be about your daddy

Tell me how you deducted that

I think you need to look in the mirror about “Brady always being on ones mind”

because I have eyeballs and they play the position differently? Do you really think Patrick mahomes, Peyton Manning, and Lamar Jackson play the game the same way?

I dont think they play the same way

But I do not see what Brady/Manning/Bree do better than Mahomes and Rodgers from a management/"field general" standpoint

Those dudes manage their offense at a pretty elite level

I’d take Elway over both Rogers or Mahommes. But you left out one of the best ever in Joe Montana....

No I didn’t leave off Montana I just didn’t feel the need to put every great qb in my post. I think 3 proved my point

They run their offenses great and they are great game managers but they aren’t required to be a general on the field.

Josh beats them in a race and he would throw the ball at least 80 yards in a long throw contest. I've heard hes shattered 80 but I'll be conservative

Rodgers’ best quality is that he doesn’t throw Interceptions while still being productive. Calling him a gunslinger is fricking stupid.

And Mahomes is simply the best QB in the game right now. He’s won a ton of games, a championship, and MVP played in 2 super bowls in his first 3 years.

Being a check down Charlie doesn’t make you a field general.

Something tells me your dumb fricking arse doesn’t watch KC’s offense. Hell, you don’t seem to watch GB’s offense either.

Christ. The KC loss certainly brought up the resident dumbfricks.
